Thread regarding Fannie Mae layoffs

Do you think this pace of layoffs continues?

This is almost diabolical.

@1b7 His source: Trust me bro 😂

Compare Software Engineering Salaries because that's where the most H1B employees are at. If you do a simple google search, you would see most h1b workers earn less than their American counterparts.

Average H1B salary - $167,000
Median H1B salary - $125,000

Median American salary - $45,000

Clearly one group cannot compete with the other and want them out to free up jobs for themselves. Numbers don’t lie.

@xx you’re joking right? The only reason why h1b’s exist now is because they are easily to control by insecure managers and they slave them off. Poor guys are in constant fear of losing job/status and will dance on their head if these managers ask them. Lose that BS about advanced skills non sense. It’s pure black mail and modern day slavery.

@xx Bro most of the H1Bs write spaghetti code. They couldn't even write basic Java and python code without help. And what is Advance degrees?

Have to agree with that. The H1Bs do outwork and outcompete Americans in every sphere. American education needs to prioritize STEM learning like they do in Asian countries (China, Japan, Korean, Japan). The engineers from Asia are supremely better and find it too easy to get jobs in America inspite of the amount of paperwork, hurdles, and policies in place to make life harder for them.

And you know this because you have verified everyone’s visa status ? Or are you just assuming all brown people are on a visa without much thought into it ? TBH I feel people on H1B have advanced STEM degrees and are more than capable of finding a job in any corner of the world. Seems to me like the ones living in “fear” are Americans that can’t compete with the talent from abroad and want them out to free up jobs for themselves.

@t7 Thats totally untrue. Most of the H1B employees just overwork because they have to in fear of getting fired or layoff and having only 60 days to move back to the country of origin. Also some of the H1B employees lack the tech skills just as American employees although I notice more H1B folks write software without giving much thought it imo.

@t6 the citizens are jobless because they’re incompetent. The average American can only read at a 6th grade level. The H1B grads have the jobs because they’re competent and work hard. Simple as that. Not to mention they all have advanced STEM degrees versus the average American that has a bachelors in arts or gender studies.

@sa : You are right about the tech. Companies should continue to/ keep up with modernization. However, Fannie can be much more leaner than it is.

I agree with the previous guy more about foreign workers. Sorry, you can’t justify cheap foreign labor in today’s world of AI and where citizens are jobless. The h1b / opt visa system is absolutely being abused at this time.

@qx So the contractors that work on AWS to modernize legacy web applications are working on archaic tech ? So what if they’re on a visa and foreign grads ? They’re probably there because they’re better than you with your entitled mindset. Either compete or you will be outworked. Those contractors are literally the ones doing all the work at the company compared to the full timers that just pass time and engage in so called “team building activities” and “town halls” or sit on useless meetings all day long where they discuss their vacations.

I don’t see why not. Tech (CTO/CIO) is next. Absolute chaos over there. Inefficiency and waste abound. Career Lead Associate / Manager Level sitting there to Marshall around third party contractors that are foreign grads on h1b/opt posing as experienced consultants on archaic tech. The biggest tech companies don’t have as many teams as Fannie which is laughable. Apparently no groundbreaking tech product coming out of these rocket scientists working under CTO/CIO.
