Self employment is different. I said find a job, nowhere did I say that can't be self employment. Every state is different, but if you do start your own business and make money at it, you have to report that income to the unemployment office. If you don't, that's called fraud.
If you don't make enough, you can still collect unemployment but the amount will be impacted by the income you make in your independent business.
@3qte+15EBzpLw Worry about yourself prick. Not everybody wants to be an employee for a living. Everybody's goals and aspirations are different. Wise people aren't eager to get back on a payroll, but to find alternate means of income, such as starting your own business or following your dreams. FOH

@3eem+15EBzpLw, unemployment is supposed to be TEMPORARY. It is to get you through until you find your next job. It's not about sitting on it until the benefit runs out (at least not intentionally).
You should be looking for a job on day one out of work. Now, it is going to be difficult to find one and it may take 39 weeks, but waiting 39 weeks to even look tells me a lot about you and the reason they may have laid you off. That's just stupid and lazy.
You know this will only last upto 39 weeks right? Have fun looking for a job when the 40 million other people run out of unemployment right around the same time as you.
