Layoffs this week?

Any indication that we will have layoffs this week? Asking for a friend...

Well, they p-ss-d away any credibility. This is what happens when you do that.

I'm pretty sure if VH/GV were sending emails out every day about keeping up the good work, that everyone here would just be mocking it.

VH has been too focused on saving her own job in her dealings with Icahn, to provide any proper leadership. The whole EC is too focused on setting themselves up for the future to be actual leaders. Our entire upper management is a sorry excuse for true leadership. I was once proud of Oxy, but I really hope I end up at a much better company in the future. This is such a bad joke.

@rxn couldn't agree more. Hey leadership - hello? Anyone home?

Only if we get new leadership. The old ones will do the same to cover their a–. If the board gives them the ability to try and bring us out of this we are doomed. One of the benefits of working from home is that I am able to keep up with the virus concerns. That might be good or bad, but the one thing I am seeing is leadership from the top guys. Andrew Cuomo comes on everyday and has a new conference and talks about what is going on, and you really feel he is on top of the situation. The same thing can be said for the US task force once you take the politics out. People are people and we all just want to try and understand what is around the corner. Reading between the lines of the email let everyone think there would be upcoming layoffs. This is just a good example of a failure of leadership to keep people informed. It should go down as an example of just how much BS is spread when our executives open their mouths about caring. VH or GV should be sending out daily emails as leaders even if it is to say keep up the good work. All I can think is they are so worried about themselves they can't lead.

What if with the package for 0% interest loans for businesses during the virus period Oxy ends up getting a pass for another year and if oil comes up again by August somehow dodge the tough spot?

Is that a possible scenario?

it is pretty disappointing how management at OXY keeps all of their employees in the dark. We are all expecting layoffs based on Vicki's coded email last week, but no info has been provided as to when and where. Morale is the lowest I have ever seen it after working at OXY for 8 years. People are not proud to work at this company like they once were.
