Oxy is an organization with a history of married working couples, brother and sisters, son and daughters. I am calling on saving more money by letting one go! There are managers and technical staff related all under the same business unit or discipline. VG son's driving a BMW X6 doesn't add much real barrels to the company!

let's have HR disposing of OP for bringing a stupid idea to the table
Can you clarify if you are referring to the Brad Holly and Scott Moore "s-xual Playthings" article?
I know of a married couple that both bring a lot to the table, and in totally different parts of the company. It would be stupid of Oxy to base it on relationship. We need them both in the case of the ones I know.
@rjx+15pVaSof That's why real companies ensure that married couples or those in relationships are in separate chains of command.
But, Oxy isn't a real company and nepotism, cronyism are rampant. So it is amateur hour out there.
I congratulate those domestic partners who are both making good salaries at the same company. It is a bit too leveraged on one source of income but all the power to them if it works for the couple.
The primary problem with couples, family or close friends in business is the fact it impairs your ability to think objectively because your relationship with the individual. Therefore constructive criticism and disciplinary action become tactics rarely used when justified because your personal relationship supersedes the status quo which in turn appears as nepotism. It never works and there may be a few exceptions but the odds are against you. 👍🏻
Just because someone is related to someone at a company immediately means that they are incompetent. This is not necessarily nepotism in all cases. This is a dumb discriminatory idea.
Also determining a conclusion as to someone's financial situation based on their car is ignorant. Everyone has different financial obligations and wildly different savings goals. Financing can make anyone look rich while in many cases they don't have a positive net worth. Not saying that's the case here because we do work in overpaid oil and gas.
Savings won’t account for much
