Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Not the end of the world

A word of encouragement. I was affected in August.

Look. It's actually quite nice being away from Dell. I was counting on getting WFR. Rather take that than stay in a company that is obviously circling the toilet in so many ways.

I was only at dell for 3 years so my feedback from the job market has been pretty positive. I am in no hurry to get back to the workforce but It's definitely better than 2023. I think those with 10-20 year stints at Dell are going to have a rougher time. Just being honest here.

some of us have no savings and struggled for years so a layoff means evictions (rentals do not give you leeway, but instead court orders to leave) when you've not got the skills or ability to retain new information to move onto something better. for some, the world does come crashing down hard when you got kids and not savings et. hard times of past (medical, kids emergencies) took up all savings. got nothing if not job.

No. I was just armed with common sense and a savings account.
EVERY job/career/finance advice starts with this very fundamental.
Not to mention they do give you months of severance.
