Other trade shops charge their traders cost of capital; Global Trading is full of third rate traders that tie up millions in ICE margining on marginal, long dated trades for thousands in profit.

@b5 both DW and Tracy should both get a NSI on their PDS and a lump of coal in their stockings b/c how in the F do you let your global trading teams lose over $800M with oil prices above $85 for an entire quarter.

This has been explained many times before but let’s try it this way….

Imagine you take a loan to buy a house. A creditor runs your credit history and they see the value of the loan….but they don’t see the value of your house. The value of your house isn’t realized until you sell it and turn it into cold hard cash. (In the meantime, the house might have appreciated and made a lot of money, but the creditor doesn’t know that. They only know how much you owe.)

You are welcome.

Ever think what head of trading at BP/Shell think when they see this stuff?

Then when they watch Darren try to mansplain to Becky Quick on CNBC that this is just how it works….

$4 billion hit and she's still got a job? Turns out putting someone who worked in HR into trading was a terrible idea

@a1 it’s not “we hire,” it’s “we can only hire.” Why would any capable traders want to play this hunger game while making a fraction of what they can make elsewhere. Trading is all about people management, which XOM su-ks at.

We hire 3rd class traders who have spent their careers proving they cannot generate profits.
