Layoff with 4

Does anyone know getting laid off with 4 rating- does it mean less or no or any difference in severance? Got laid off today, asked manager he told HR will let me know. Told the reason restructuring.

@r7 I don't mind sharing but when I say HR people freak out - remember there are lots of LOB's in HR that are not the "bad guys" and we know nothing more than anyone else - learning, development, project management, talent, sourcing, scheduling, etc. So, AVP in Tampa for me. Well, I did not get a 4 BUT was laid off in the January round (1/14/26 to be specific - bonus day). I thought my manager was zooming me to share the bonus number but was laid off instead and given a special payment in lieu of bonus of $5k. From the people I spoke with from my same round, they got a special payment in lieu of bonus as well but the amounts varied.

Anyone laid off this February round or going forward would have already received their bonus.

Wonder if all the people who were given 4s for the first time this year, were given zero bonuses? Was Citi thinking, we are letting them go (and giving them a severance package), why give them a bonus, too? So, was the 4 given (always in leadership) just to avoid paying them a bonus ?

A 4 is janes new 3 .. you still get severance. Like 12 people i knoe all high performers got a 4 and let go with a severance

4 in Tampa. Bullsh-t rating, everyone knew it. 60 day non working period, 2 weeks pay for every year for severance.

I know someone who was laid off a few years ago with a 4 and they got full severance.

If you are fired for cause , you won't get your severance , but if you are rated a four and you are involuntarily laid off due to restructuring , you get your severance.

4 no longer means what it meant before. It's quickly becoming just a marker on who to target next. Ask him whether you're eligible for rehire then you'll know for sure if its restructuring or poor performance, (although he could lie).
