Another Connect Week Complaint

Just wanted to vent on the whole connect week policy for regional centers- I'm quite frankly embarrassed to hold client zoom meetings when in the office- that clients have to hear the background noise of loud talking, laughing and coughing. I understand the loud talking as we are all raising our levels to ensure our clients can hear us over our colleagues. I wonder what client's impressions would be if they could actually see behind the scenes. All the negativity I see & hear from co-workers on the fact they have to go into the office isn't helping my morale either. At the end of the connect week I continually ask myself why did I need to go into the office? Not only did I not gain anything from it other than another cold/ flu virus but feel demoralized & with less money in my pocket after filling up my car.

@r3 I have a GREAT home life thanks ! I don't wring my hands over stuff I can control. I have switched jobs when I don't like my current circumstances. I don't waste time b*tching about something that can be resolved by finding a different opportunity. Life is too short. If you don't want to work here under these circumstances you are free to leave

@r3 so it's not about your health - you just don't like coming to the office? Ok gotcha.

@p4 LOL stated like a typical boomer. Yes I had an in office job for 10 years before Covid. we found a new way of working that was a win for everyone, why would we not complain going back to an inundated purposeless way of working in office together? Go back to kissing a-s in office and running away from your miserable home life.

@d6 wow - you sound miserable - but blaming your job on catching illness makes you sound like a real whiner. Find another job if you're that angry or sad. Maybe your attitude is affecting your immune system. Did you ever have a FT job in the office before Covid or were you still in college then? Seriously. Do you not go out on weekends or after work - you're sure you've been sick due to connect weeks?

@OP Agreed- working in the office feels like working with one arm tied behind your back for the week. Total joke Abby

The disconnect from client facing reps to upper upper management is incredible. Being in the office is an absolute net negative for the people actually doing the work to help our clients.

Inadequate restrooms, toxic environment, literally women crying in office at their desks on my team AND it takes A HALF HOUR just to get off campus at the end of your horrible day. What a joke!

@e8 Ice cream and pizza socials just sounds so juvenile and cheap. C'mon kids, lets eat pizza together and moral will be boosted.

It doesn't matter what makes sense or what the employees think. Whatever Abby says goes, a the culture is that everyone manages up whether it's something like this or day to day work. They haven't figured out how to implement this in a way that makes sense so they just double down on stupidity with a tone deaf one size fits all solution where you're treated like a 5 year old. Morale is low and part of me wonders if that is intentional to get people to leave on their own after over hiring during COVID. In the meantime pulse survey results tell the story and in my group they told they were going to fix the negative scores...and the best tool they've come up with to do so is doubling down on pizza and ice cream socials. Remember these are for us...but if you don't want to go you're not a team player.

Unfortunately it’s the reality we are being forced to live with

Completely agree, I had to buy a headset with a physical mute button so that I can mute and unmute on the fly to block out all the d-mbas conversations and call center people talking so loud I can’t even hear my own thoughts. I’ve also caught COVID and the flu 4 times over the span of a year, no one on my team cares to sit together, and I waste my own time and gas. I hate connect weeks with a burning passion but I’d rather not get fired or have my bonus be nuked because of some stupid attendance policy.
