Layoffs this week?

What’s the latest on notification of layoffs? I keep hearing Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Any insight out there?

There are "bosses" and managers. Bosses manage hourly workers. Managers manage career employees

@qzqu+15BOmAHo, so if it is that bad, why do you continue to work there? Clearly it's not as bad becaue you choose to stay there for 55 hours a week even if you get paid only for 40. If you don't respect your time, don't expect someone else to.

Are you an engineer at GE Aviation? I hope not because you can't seem to apply basic logic in your life. GE Aviation (or any other company you work for), doesn't exist to serve you. If you want a company to serve you, start your own. Then you'll see your current problems seem like child's play.

oh you make it sound so easy to do!! My wife needs a knee replacement, and my son has Down's Syndrome. When he turns on the microwave, he runs all over the house screaming bloody murder. Of course my wife can't chase him! So guess who has to do all this? I pray I don't get cut. There's nothing like a 55 hour work week every week, constant interruptions, when I get paid for 40 hours, AND being told what to believe on a daily basis. Please, I love it. And the benefits! omg- pure heaven. Only $4000 out of pocket before they kick in? OMG I love it.

Yes @etzz+15BOmAHo there will be more layoffs this year. But nothing in large numbers just fine tuning the organization as we have always done in the past. Shifting people around and eliminating synergies is now the stage we are in.

Will there be another round of layoffs in Evendale this year?

“DT” stands for “Digital Technology”, which is typically called “IT” or “Information Technology” in other organizations.

What does GE-DT stand for?

Re the EBs, There will be more cut during the re-organization. They will have them compete for a smaller number of jobs and the losers will get left out.

Yes 13000 is number be reported by many media outlets. https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/04/business/ge-aviation-job-cuts/index.html You may thinking of just your @2unj+15BOmAHo group . GE aviation had approx. 53k when this all started shooting for approx 40k. For instance GE-DT organization had about 2200 globally and finished layoffs couple days ago and were told about 1600 made it through. The bulk of layoffs will come from the plants as they plan shutdown/consolidation of a few plants. Good luck to all.

7 EBs???
Seriously, they cut only 7 EBs? This dump is so top heavy with data vacuuming, buzzword spewing sociopaths and they could only find 7 worthy of handing a golden parachute to? Good luck to the newly woke EBs, when this economy breaks there is going to be nobody left.

Evendale as of now, since April has lost 397 with an additional 208 (announced this week) coming by July 24th. So a total of 605 so far.

Yesterday 208 lost their job in Evendale. However we were told by the end of the layoffs the total we is approx. 13000. To date has only let go about 2000 global. So it looks like we are in for some more pain to come. Also i agree we heard enough about social injustice and concentrate on keeping people employed.

First, best wishes for those that found themselves (likely through no fault of their own) looking for another employer today. This is a tough time and you're now in a tough situation and I can only wish things will fall your way in the near future.

Second, for the social justice warriors that unfortunately remain in Evendale, give yammer a frickin rest already. Yes, we've all recognized that you're people of virtue, you've signaled that to everyone from the shop floor up to the VPs. Congratulations on your woke-ness... Have some sympathy for those that were impacted and please give the remaining engineers a break from the incessant lectures while we ascertain the extent of the losses and figure out who's left to do the real engineering work (because, if we're being honest, we know who's not doing it). Let's save the business first, then we can focus on saving the world.

Finally, we do have some good managers and for those managers, you have my sympathies for what has probably been some of the toughest couple of weeks in recent memory. You are the reason that people remain here in the good times and we're thankful that you're there. For those other managers, odds are you have no idea that people hate working for you and that you seem to feed off of misery, so I won't waste words for you. Here's to hoping that you realize other people exist at some point.

How many folks actually got hit in Aviation? From what I have heard so far, the numbers are very small compared to the total employment in Evendale. On a percentage basis, Power has gotten hit much, much worse. Although I do understand it is never good to be laid off, it looks like Evendale pulled through without many losses.

To the managers who decided to lay you off (or didn't fight for you), it is my wish that they now find out how much work it actually takes to do your job and the value you added. Many manage by PowerPoint. Many take credit when it isn't their credit to take. Many do not understand the complexity and patchwork of systems that you navigated to do your job. They do not understand how much of it was you, not the system, that made GE Aviation's engines fly for decades.

While not all managers deserve these criticisms, poor practices in promoting people or hiring managers have created vacuums in true leadership. On top of that, there is the lack of overtime pay for supervisors and floor support personnel, lack of profitable stock ownership, eroding quality in healthcare insurance, pension restructuring, and raises that do not keep pace with inflation.

To those value-added employees who now find themselves on the outside of GE Aviation, I wish you the best and hope you take pride in what you accomplished while you were there.

Thanks to the red roof inn one roof policy a lot of plants will close shortly.
Supply chain leadership is just plain awesome they are finally back from "the sky is the limit bus tour" to hiding behind a bunch of irrelevant guest speakers.
Not much substance there. Let's hope the new CEO will clean them all out.
Some true transparency and optimism is needed along with a culture change.
What is my co-worker most excited about surviving yesterday you ask?
Well, she is excited not to lose her 18 weeks a year vacation schedule and having zero accountability hence no reason to show up on a daily basis.
Why do I show up to work you ask? Well isn't it obvious? I am a complete mo–n.

The best is during all hands, when everyone in the audience is fretting about their job, the management is so situationally unaware that they get guest speakers who say what a great job GE is doing, and how GE engineers are the best, ...blah, blah, blah... Does the management really think the audience is tuning in to listen to some c-ap talk when they're concerned about news / details of impending job loss?

I was laid off from GEHC last year and that time Aviation was hiring like crazy. I interviewed in the CISO org and even though I had all the right credentials the HMs didnt respect it. I am glad this is happening and wish worse for that team. Many in that team are there because they knew somebody and I doubt they could get similar job outside.

I wish all that got let go the best of luck. Unfortunately its just tip of iceberg that is 13000. I guess China got what it is looking for in ruining our economy. Have the courage to stop buying Chinese goods. Skip the macs and apple phones.

It's nearing the end of the 2nd quarter. Culpable has to tell Wall Street the good news. Spending cuts. Manpower reduction. You should know the routine by now.

Don't worry the exec team is working on a purpose talk video.
Just remember if you didn't get zapped this round, then round 3 may be your ticket back to the real world.
