on 11/23/26 TransUnion just laid off hundreds of amazing people in their CTO technology org. People around the world were laid off. They cut way to deep this time and I expect a huge performance ripple effect in Q1. 100% their CTO Venkat is about to sink the ship with these cuts in order to hit unrealistic cost savings targets tied to his bonus. Moral is horrible.

@we That might not be 100% accurate. My entire team was cut in the second round (March 2024), including our manager and director. Neither of them were aware that the team would be affected until they received the email along with the rest of us.
@ad he survived because he was the one doing the cutting.
@wc I'm sorry that happened to you. Do you mind sharing which department are you in?
@gy if this is the formula those losing their jobs next year are already on the list, meaning your manager or their manager already knows.
@a8 We must have a very good sales team to bamboozle customers into staying.
@t5 I felt betrayed when my long time manager told me he "didn't know" I was going to be cut, even though I was told by a Sr Director my name had come up in one of the many meetings to determine who's being chopped. Looking back, I should have known bc meetings with me were being rescheduled more than usual.
@qx Because migration was never successful, and now with leftovers, it is a joke.
Il tell you how this works. Upper management grabs cigars, a good bourbon, sits down with a payroll list and randomly starts knocking off names till it gets boring.
@gy So Managers already knew all of this? My Manager acted as if she didn't know at all that this was coming, but clearly kept mentioning that layoffs are happening soon in every team meeting. Just so you know, Karma never gets away.
Why was it pushed twice from March to August to November?
I assume you're higher up - just trying to understand how decisions are being made.
Wow 100's of layoffs going on while systems are completely shut down and customers are pi---d off! Great decision leadership! Wonderful "modernization" efforts!
@e8 It was originally planned for March, then pushed to August, then happened in November. Initial list shared in Feb 2025 by the managers, same list was supposed to go in August. It was revised in the beginning of Oct and once again revised to include entire teams in the last week of Oct.
Another one planned for March 2026
Transunion HR gave no notification while layoffs were going on. To think they take surveys to understand whats wrong. Lol.
I genuinely don’t see how executives expect to deliver on their promises while they continue to gut entire departments.
And I have to wonder how long this plan has been sitting on someone’s desk. There’s talk that the meeting mentioned in the email was supposed to happen earlier in the year—no idea if that’s true, but if it is, it sure looks like they postponed it just long enough to finish key projects before cutting people loose.
It’s disappointing that the board refuses to act, though it’s not like they stand to gain anything by stepping in. And HR’s selective enforcement of their own policies isn’t surprising—they exist to shield the company, not the employees.
@a8 Ever notice that the entire company went to sh-t when Venkat and the Walmart HR woman were acquired? Why is Cartwright even the CEO?
@an Nobody is at the wheel!
This is extremely frustrating, We logged in yesterday to learn that the entire L1, automation and performance was removed.
@a8 The idea that Venkat survived after the first wave of layoffs in GT is so questionable.
As someone already said, it's psychological warfare. Why does Venkat feel it's acceptable to use foul language while wreaking havoc on employee moral when he's produced ZERO benefit to employees and customers? Why do the members of the board allow this behavior? What's the end goal other than driving employees to madness? Are we being lead by a cult?
@OP the business is going to suffer and these cost-savings are going to backfire spectacularly. I hope that Venkat's peers come at him with everything they got.
