Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Plant Engineering at Maplewood is a pile of...

They are a steaming pile of you know what. Our equipment is down for weeks when it used to be a day or two. We are told they can't get parts but it sounds like Bald Bob, Timid Tony, and Jumpy Jeff are the real problem. From what I hear they take forever to approve parts requests for equipment they don't own and honestly could even identify. Plant Engineering needs to get their cr-p together. It sounds like they need new leadership.

If DEI has been shut down then Bald Bob should not be given special recognition for being bald.

@qv don't complain to this board? That is literally what this board is for. If leadership was worth a single cent, Plant Engineering wouldn't be in this situation. Robin is as much of a problem as anyone. If you don't invest in your maintenance organization, you end up spending more money in the long run. But hey, they don't care how much money they spend on the long run, as long as their KPIs are good today, they get their money.

Don’t blame middle management, Robin won’t permit any hiring or spending. If you are feeling pain, don’t blame Plant Engineering! They are being systematically and strategically degraded. Call it union busting or whatever you like.

Have your leadership push upper management to do something about it. Don't complain on this board. Do something constructive. The actual workers in PE know all too well the issues with man-power shortages, longer turn-over on parts, customer dissatisfaction and try to work them thru. Problem is the "Top Tier" management wants to contract everything out to save "you money". That trickles down and the rest of us, PE and you, the customer, ultimately pay the price.
By contracting everything out management is not liable for anything. PE ends up taking care of any "warranty" when newly installed things don't work. If a contractor gets hurt/ki-led, hey, not 3m's problem. The road to Zero will be that much easier to attain.

That would be Tireman's son Dominic and his merry band of geniuses at Kearney who came up with that brilliant idea.

Whatever consultant who advised PE be cut to beyond the bone needs to be charged by the hour for the added downtimes. One of 3M’s strengths of pushing results has been crippled beyond repair as the consultant laughs all the way to the bank.
