Any updates on the WFH option or date where it ends and the workforce has to go back to Greenway.

Let’s get a count. How many of you have WFH sons or daughters living with you. Perhaps they are still s—ing off your finances. Maybe they are emotionally draining you. Perhaps they really don’t give a c-ap about you. Life is good and they have a cheap place to live and the meals are good and the kitchen is open 24 hrs a day. And the best thing is there are no commitments for moving out and growing up.
So are you making money for the company? Lots of people work their tails but don’t really do anything productive. It is your responsibility to question your bosses if you are not providing value in the big picture.
I am working my tail off.
They can’t afford to wait for the return to the office to take action. WFH may continue well beyond January.
@1wtb+17F5Oal1 that's been an Oxy issue for years. There are departments where only a handful of people do work. The rest just sit around and brown nose.
WFH may make it more apparent, but Oxy has had a productivity problem for years.
Oxy is not set up properly for WFH. If you cannot function well while in the office how can you expect WFH to be better.
THIS. I’m getting f tired of the dichotomy. Us “nice guys” are working our tails off and watching a huge section get away with doing absolutely nothing. With seemingly no problems.
I’m grateful for WFH and having a job/benefits. But they definitely need to evaluate situations. There are many employees who have been working 14 hour days for almost 2 years now while others have absolutely nothing to do. Let the unproductive ones go and fill in where needed to spread the workload so quality doesn’t go down. Lazy Managers don’t want to say that they employees with spare time because that would make them look bad.
Not “might”. “Will”. It’s definitely happening
Layoffs early January
@jft+17F5Oal1 Pretty sure why Oxy acquired APC. Let them cut out the extra fat in Oxy and replace with top tier APC. And destroy the culture while at it!
Oxy will be conducting layoffs soon so it won’t be so much of an issue once laid off. Either way you’ll work from home!
You might see companies wanting to high-grade by laying off and then hiring from the large talent pool out on the streets who have major oil company experience.
Exxon today announces 1900 layoffs mostly in Houston. Are you sure you want to be out of work?

@qpx+17F5Oal1 You are exactly right. I think it is more the APC folks that want out because they will get enough money and insurance to probably land on their feet. I for one just want to keep working and getting insurance during this time no matter where I have to work. The WFH works great in my mind, but I will do what I need. I know people that were laid off in January and many VSP folks that are all qualified and are still looking for work. Some are paying Cobra amounts for insurance that runs upwards of 2K a month for a family. Throw in Exxon, Chevron, Noble to name a few and there are thousands competing for jobs in the O&G business.
@qpx+17F5Oal1 What do you expect from the typical Oxy employee level of entitlement?
I’m hearing it won’t be January now (after the email came out)
Yeah..... it must be very depressing having a job when other companies and other industries are laying off 10%,... 20%.... 30%... of their workforce.
With morale being at an all time low and probably going lower with the anticipation of another year of no promotions/raises, it would definitely be more depressing to be in the office and see disgruntled coworkers in person. Hopefully they’ll at least let us keep our sanity by working from home.
When did that email go out?
you must have taken too long vacation! Yes, Mid January. meantime keep on vacation!
Check your emails VH said earliest return to the office was Jan 15 2021. I doubt even that soon with the way CV19 cases are skyrocketing.
