14K (20% of the corporation) laid off today or the coming days. All segments, all areas of work.

@3cj You're spot on. I've been in conversations where leadership is deciding on low range talent in India for $35k a year or more talent in Canada for $65k a year. Then they can let go of the US talent at $120k a year and show to their boss how they cut their budget. It's sickening.
@3cj is this all legal?
Anyone negotiating their severance package? If so, how did it turn out?
@q6 Just laid off in MDS, says “restructuring”, dropped my higher JGx position for three lower JG(x-1) positions. BD needs to go up into the VP levels and start laying off there- they get rid of the seasoned associates that know how the operations run- really disappointing. Don't expect a recovery in stock price anytime soon. And btw; BD Excellence is NOT going to save the company- reported “savings and cost avoidance” are fallacies!
Wondering if layoffs are over for 2025 - Is there another round planned?
Huge huge
@154 i heard around the 500 range across BDX last week
@153 so what IS the ACTUAL number?
@12x actual number is nowhere close to that
14k???? That has to include the number that will go to Waters after they merge with BDB and DS. Or are you saying that many not including those people. That’s crazy.
@q6 that's bs. Why not talk about it? So many laid off on Thursday..people talk. We know who got meeting invites and who didn't (yet!) I personally know of 25 people who lost their jobs across many depts and locations
I was laid off a recently despite many years of service. I know of one other co-worker, also long term employee, that was laid off the same day, but there may have been more. We have been instructed not to talk to our co-workers. There are lay offs last year and the year before. But that may have been because of the 175 million dollar SEC lawsuit.
Basically they have us train a foreign workforce to do our jobs and once they are trained, they get rid of us. So if you are training people from overseas to "be part of your team", start looking for work.
@nw where is the 14,000/20% of workforce number coming from?
@a5 yes, it happened and I was affected after 18 years. 14,000 people, 20% of workforce.
@aa at least 100 that I know of
BD won’t survive without reducing cost. India is no longer inexpensive , and some id--ts get quite a lot of money there, I don’t know who recruited them. Ireland, Poland— they will hardly get good candidates. Only option is US, but it should be skill based hire. Right now , leadership is full of useless folks.
does any one know appox. how many associates were impacted?
Yep, it's started. Massive layoffs today, across the company. So many coworkers gone
CTO sent an email saying 50% budget cut in R&D and one of the core priorities is hiring off shore in India and Ireland. Looks like layoffs have started and will run all the way through December.
this is a rumor for now.
20% is way too high, the enterprise would cease to exist.
we'll see what happens soon.
Ha ha! I guess those Tesla robots are on their way! Run for the hills!
@a4 Yeah, I'm sure there are layoffs happening but 20% seems preposterously high.
20% of the company? is this for real?
Sad. We are at least #1 in one thing today:
