Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

About half the managers at Boeing still need to go

Bowling has long treated these upper management positions as a reward for employee loyalty. But where was the reward for employee loyalty to the mechanics, engineers who Boeing has taken every opportunity to layoff and replace with an entry-level wage employee?

At least half the management of Boeing does nothing productive for ads any value to the company. One of the main reason Boeing‘s been trying to outsource so much of its work especially engineering is because they have so much overhead due to so many layers of management that can’t show a profit. Instead of doing the obvious thing which is to get rid of most of the extraneous layers of Management they lay off the workers like engineers and outsource their jobs to another country.

At the same time they want to pretend they have the established and experienced workforce to design a new clean sheet design. The opportunities they had to develop that workforce they chose instead to outsource most engineering to design centers like in Moscow.

The chances of turning things around sre not good. The only chance they have is if they get rid of at least half the overhead and unproductive labor they have.

You have to start with the highest paid employees, which are your director level, senior level managers and vice presidents who literally do nothing except go to meetings that nothing constructive ever emerges from.

This company will never show a profit until the majority of the unproductive labor is let go and the place to start is with 7 layers of management

Personal cellphones shouldn't be allowed in the workplace. Leads to a lot of goofing off and can lead to espionage. I worked with two engineers at BA who were having an affair. They would text each other while at work all the time. Their phones were against regulation too. Their apple iphones had cameras in them. The military base where we worked required secret clearance and did not allow cameras on-base. Lots of shenanigans on that program. Manager was corrupt and didn't care. Lots of shenanigans at BA sadly.

@q3+1jhbgm4ff well, it looks like you are on your lazy a-s on your phone posting here in the middle of the work day.

So based on your logic, you are IAM?

Mehhh, lay off more of these useless IAM factory workers. All they do is sit on their lazy as--s & phone all day. Useless weight for the company.

It makes little difference now what Boeing does or doesn't do. It's game over for Boeing.

IT wouldn't hurt to layoff 25% of management and see,
if it doesn't work you can always find managers LOL

the companies are rotting from within
if it was just 1 department you could carve it out
but the rot pervades all layers of the company
like having cancer all throughout your body
people in power aren't going to self-fire

They have promoted people out of FOMO. People think they should be VPs 5 years out of college.

People threten to leave and they are offered a promotion to stay. Meanwhile, those who have earned that promotion that just keep their head down and do their jobs can't get one and they leave.

We have people in management 5 years out of school.

20 years ago that was unheard of unless you were the owners son.

We promote to keep people from leaving and not for competency.

As an example, Boeing has this crisis of inexperienced unqualified people who need someone to mentor and train them to get them up to speed. However, none of these Management layers have the skills to go and mentor a train new employees.

They promoted people to management simply to meet a diversity goal or promote their friend or because they got an MBA, etc. But none of these people they have promoted actually have any skills that could used to train new employees. I mean on the face of it you would think with all this management that it would be easy to find people who could train new employees but they don’t even have any skills before they get promoted to management.

It was bad enough to add all these layers of management but then to promote people simply because they need a diversity target because they have an MBA. They actually don’t have any real world skills was just as bad of a problem.
