Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford Salary Retiree Group

Does anyone know of a Ford Salary Retiree Group? In case I get let go I would like to consult those who have had to work through the HR systems to get retiree benefits. Also need to know how to perform Roth conversions from 401K.

When Ford does mass layoffs they staff up HR to handle the paperwork. The temporary employees are inexperienced and make a lot of mistakes. Be careful to make sure your medical is switched to retiree medical, your dental is switched, they are different programs than the employee benefits even though the benefits may be similar. After you leave the Company your supervisor is your main contact, and he/she will have limited ability to affect solutions to problems of HR’s making. If you find someone on the ball at the NESC they can help, but they have to understand the problem and be willing to take it on. People have brought problems with HR to Bill Ford’s office with varying levels of success. For example, if they miscalculate your vacation reimbursement. Local legal firms are like departments of Ford, they help you negotiate with Ford lawyers and if they agree to, the Ford lawyers may lean on HR to set something right. If you are a protected minority they may arrange a meeting with Ford lawyers in which you are paid to complain about your coworkers to get them fired. You will get a “settlement” for this. If you accept Ford’s terms then you only have to worry about administrative foulups that can be difficult to correct because you only have limited access to the Company.

You don't deal with the Ford HR at all. Those you avoid like useless mosquitos all the time. 401K are handled by the 3d party.
