Corporate DEI Index Sees 65% Drop

https://www.cnbc.com/2026/02/04/corporate-dei-index-hrc.html

When is Shell going to end its involvement with the HRC racket?

Last year leaders were told to remove DEI targets from their GPAs but were told to keep it under wraps. They're trying to play both sides of the fence on this stuff.

@1pq Ok . . . and what about the scores (and yes there are many) who are not mediocre and have dedicated years and years to their work? And were passed by people (sometimes) clearly not demonstrating the ability. This is not the case for all, but it is not just a one or two. It was pervasive during those years.

Speaking of white male tears. . . Lots of whining in here as usual from people who can’t fathom that someone other than a mediocre white guy deserves a role or promotion.

@s4

absolutely. HR is not your friend. their job is to support whoever they need to in order to save the company the most money.

if it’s egregious enough, they are now your friend so that you won’t sue. if it’s not, they will work against you accelerate your removal from the company.

@py
That time it was crazy egregious and provable.

Most times discrimination is veiled just enough that it is hard to prove except for the larger statistics which the wronged party does not have access to. If you cannot prove it you need to move on and adjust your loyalties and focus on yourself.

@pt

there’s a lawsuit right now in which shell promoted DEI hires into cybersecurity roles and literally gave the qualified candidates who were looked over “white tear jars” in their own words

google it

Do you think that there should be a settlement for male staff who were passed over for promotions? What if they were fired for DEI because the jobs they applied to were GIVEN to female or female identifying people? The fired took settlements... so Shell can claim that they're done with that legally but morally Shell is tainted.

I think we all just move on. But we all know better and realign our loyalties.

SCoTUS acknowledged affirmative action was constitutionally suspect in 2004. This won't change with the election, but, yes, the next administration could turn a blind eye to DEI-based violations.
In this last year, even the most liberal people I know seem relieved that the DEI fever has broken. There still are ideologues who have burrowed under the skin and gone quiet, but most of the damage was inflicted in pursuit other (economic) agendas, like BlackRock controlling access to corporate funding in furtherance of ESG/DEI at the same time promoting its own line of underperforming investment products bearing Fink's seal of approval. Or within Shell, individuals advancing their own careers by branding themselves social justice warriors, at the same time making bad personnel decisions (who make terrible investment decisions) and exposing the company to untold liability, most of which gets resolved with NDA's and cash. Shell needs to clean house. You can't run a business with incompetent posers gaslighting everyone by spewing corporate doublespeak. And especially one person in particular who needs to go, and I'm not talking about YL.

@b0 the world changed for the worse in the US, you are right things swing, the right place is somewhere in the middle, conscious choices to balance DEI needn’t lead to wrong promotions of those incapable, nor the opposite to try and go back 20+ years. There is a middle, sensible ground to be had, sadly seems it no longer salacious enough

@a3

100%

we now live in a world where every 4-8 years the regime changes and the first thing they do is fully reverse all prior activity

we can expect woke to be back with a vengeance as well as full amnesty and tons of new taxes to support immigrants and fraudulent 501.3c charities

and we all know this will happen and so the wokies simply aren’t writing things down but will emerge back and bigger than ever in 2028.

it’s not hard to VE poses where leaders are openly complimenting shell for committing to DEI when other companies have dropped it and we get constant emails about diversity from random LT and it’s still on goal sheets. so it’s not exactly hidden as is

The corporate liberal types are true believers. Their expectation is to just keep quiet and wait out the clock until 2028 and then resume the "progress."
