For those not already aware. RRP awards this years will be small to non existent with those GL30+ supposedly not getting anything.
But don’t worry, that doesn’t apply to executives.

Witty had 13% pay raise last year while company had rif
The comment about focusing on the lower grade staff for increases would only make sense if they received higher than typical increases this year. They were lower than any year I can recall, so this explanation does not tell the whole story.
I'm a GL30 and pi---d there is no merit increase this year. Are bonuses available to all grades or is there a range?
"De-merit" is what it should be called when it's way less than inflation.
I’m just relieved that the wealthy execs will still get their millions. It will trickle down to us eventually smdh
And I thought they called it a "merit" increase.
Witty: "We had a bad year" = $20B net revenue increase year over year. Most companies would be giving EVERYONE a raise with those numbers
What happens if we actually have a bad year with less revenue than the year before?
Telling grade 30+ dont get any raises but elt and slts rack millions. Everyone has worked entire year and they should all get bonus and raises based on their rating in their respective grade level. Unfair practice to put your high performers in 30+ have 0 raises like those who are rated 2 or 3.
He mentioned focusing raises on lower salary grades, saying we're focusing on the "right" people. So I guess he's telling all 30+ they are the wrong people. It's pretty bad when your CEO is openly encouraging division between employees.
Witty's comments at town hall were ridiculous today. RRP a "little" lower than last year but still "good". What is wrong with that guy?? He is the complete opposite of authentic.
You busted your a** and made no more than the person doing the bare minimum who didn't. Think about that this year before you sacrifice another night or weekend.
That’s not how it works really. They fund based on a percentage of salaries and a few other factors. So your bucket as a manager consists of a percentage 2-2.5% of their salaries combined and it shows recommended percentage increases based on rating for each.
Not where I’m given a budget of 20k for merit and then slice it from there. You could be a 29 making $170k or whatever at the top of the range, if the funding pool is 2.3% then it’s 2.3% for the guy making $125k too just his 2.3% is smaller than yours. It’s up to your org as to how they rate and rank you and decide what to give you from there.
Witty was really witty today with his rrp bs.
We should all take these comments with a pinch of salt. Impossible to compare without the actual job detail. I’m a 29 and lowest merit I’ve gotten was 3.72% and highest 4.5%. I make 125k currently. So 4.5% may not stack up to another 29’s merit if their base is more than mine. I’m aware there is a big range of salaries for the same grade.
Heard the same, GL30+ no Merritt, GL29 apparently will get the usual 1.3%, imagine GL30+ will still get RRP. We were told that GL30 not getting Merritt was to ensure that they retain the high performers blah blah.
It is funny Optum is very heavy on GL30
(Directors), we have Directors reporting to Directors, Directors with no reports....
I wonder how many millions Witty will give himself as a bonus this year while we get basically nothing
I’ve been told no merit GL30+. Better be some RRP. As it stands, we’re going backwards. Tack on the way the health insurance costs are more heavily weighted on those GL29-30+ based on their salary, it’s becoming less and less motivating as a high performer. I’m ok with it if it keeps folks jobs and it’s only temporary. Just a hard pill to swallow when a basic grocery run at Walmart now costs $350.
With regards to Witty’s comment on RRP being good but slightly less. To put it honestly, it was roughly 56-58% funded based on what I saw in my org. Last year it was funded at approx 90%. So roughly half of last year.
We’ll all see how Witty’s raise and bonus is here shortly. Hopefully it’s not rules for thee and not for me.
heard it from the horse's mouth. Be a better performer. so you can get another explanation next year about how record profits don't translate into rewards because blah blah blah
Do you mean no bonus or no merit increase for level 30 and above? I’ve heard about no merit, no bonus is news to me.
Merits have always mean measly. Only way to increase salary is to go up a pay grade. Grades 30+ are not getting merit but are getting RRPs. My team of 27 will see merits if 1-2% and RRPs are 1-2k less than last year.
