Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What will EMRE look like in 2022

Can the corporation continue to dump money into EMRE in this environment, what is the corporation getting for this investment. ,overhead is outrageous, cuts will continue, and high cost locations are in the cross hairs, moral is at an all time low in Annandale, contractors taking over, and management has lost all credibility(not they had much to start) . No raise for Wage in 3 years, please put some heat in the haz waste building, if Exxonmobil employees were working out there it would have been done years ago ,Getting nervous here in Annandale , lots of employees,PHD’s leaving , retirements and management still mighty fat, can this continue? Bruce left us hanging, can Darin T save us? LPS, OCVM LPO’s , HR useless, algae,CSR, carbon capture?? Still lots of rough road ahead.

@pnc+1aaj40P6 I believe you are talking about CSR in Clinton, New Jersey. Last we checked, it was hard to find people that were technically talented or motivated. It is a place that has embodied the culture of creating fake illusions. Additionally, they have spread the pain by sending Clinton robots to our Upstream and Downstream orgs.

Being part of EMRE (in Clinton), I can say that majority of the work done is either unnecessary, over engineered and therefore well beyond what's needed, or could easily be outsourced. Given the overly high salaries, Clinton being extremely expensive to operate and a valuable piece of land, and lots of vacancies due to prior and ongoing PIPoff, the layoff, voluntaries PLUS folks starting to put in their notices, just can't imagine how it survives. EMRE as a whole still provides value in my opinion, but it's waning. Really need to reevaluate what's needed to support the sinking ship. Sadly, probably just a skeleton crew is required going forward, and it'll definitely be all operated from the south!

Plenty of studies going on as we speak... spruce up that resume and start looking, especially if you live in PA/NJ/NY area. Won't be long before the grand reveal.

Has anyone done a serious cost benefit analysis of EMRE?

I’m not for or against EMRE. If we are making money based on their efforts, then keep them. If not, then we need to start thinking about reducing.

EMRE is equivalent to the wisdom-tooth, an artifact of (organizational) evolution that had served its purpose but is irrelevant now and can be discarded with no harmful consequences.

Darrin Talley? He is another snake like Darren W. and Tracy G. Ask those that were in former GREF to understand the bloodshed done under Darrin T's watch. He is another ruthless yes man types. He is another arrogant credential less id–t who I dont know how he reached where he did. id–t after id–t after id–t have taken up higher seats at XOM to fill their own pockets ruthlessly removing hardworking employees.

Emre will be around long enough to support low cost technical center training and expansion then be culled in 2023 to 2025.

They get rid of personnel at the operating units but keep these highly-paid staff for support at Spring. Efficient operating companies don’t have such huge corporate organizations for refinery support. If one such low cost operator took over, they will get rid of all the such waste.

But carbon capture, y'all.
pumped down with the nuclear rods in Utah's deepest caves.
The future is right in front of us.

EMRE has been a benefit to the company over the years, but steadily dwindling in contributions.
This is not the fault of the fine scientists and technicians working there.
It is the fault of the profiteering executives (Woof Rex and Drill the Woods) of the past 20.
They knee-capped the idea of research in any form, other than financial.

It was EMRE by the way that produced some of the first findings of global warming some 50 years ago. The minute that was exposed (only a few years back), EMRE became a goiter.

Annandale is gone. No question.
It would have cost a billion to move it to texas just a few years ago.
But all the research and labs and such no longer have meaning to the new crew.

It is ironic.
A company that insists its principal resource - ancient carbon goop - will continue to lead human productivity for a century to come:
no longer wants to figure how to get that last penny out of every carbon chain.
or certainly how to make it acceptable to the so-called customer of the future.

What a sorry mess. on their dress.
