Unfortunately, the Columbus Ledger Enquirer article on the "displacement" of IT employees is way off on several facts and almost sounds like it was written by Aflac PR to minimize the impact on the brand. The official total affected employees was 55, not 45. 55 is the number given to internal managers to communicate to other departments. The article also states that most will be hired by the vendor, or moved to other internal jobs. While there were 20 positions posted internally, the positions offered by the vendor were not one for one. Employees will only be hired by the vendor if their skill set meets a current need. There is no official agreement by the vendor to hire any displaced employees. The data center will be transitioned to the vendors hosted space. Data centers are expensive, and moving to a hosted solution will save dollars in the long run. But to state that one of the reasons for the action is because of aging IT systems is a slap in the face to the infrastructure teams who worked within severely restricted budgets year after year to keep the infrastructure current and/or in some cases state of the art. It simply wasn't true. Personally, I have never been more disappointed in Aflac. Cutting costs is prudent, watching the bottom line is responsible, but do it in an honorable way. Communication and honesty are key.

You can trust what's printed in the Ledger. The Ledger allowed Aflac to keep them from publishing a story about an executive who was charged with a DUI and hit and run about 3 years ago.
Good and true post.
All of this could have been handled much better.
My husband is one of the affected folks.
Godspeed.
Thank you for setting the facts straight. The poster of this original correction is dead on target. I don't know who provided the information to the ledger inquirer, but clearly it was an attempt to diminish the impact that truly happened by stating it was just a small part of IT. The small part of IT is only the core infrastructure professionals that built and run the systems.
Disappointed with the local media. Because of the Amos name, they are selling this as a positive thing. Total bull. With HQ moving to Atlanta, and Theresa W. having VPs work to cut cost by outsourcing their departments, this company is headed in the gutter. The general public will find out. #Aflac #AflacOutsource2020
Appreciate the posting as the news article tried to put a a positive spin on a terrifiring act to some very dedicated employees
