Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Is it smart to stay at Intel?

Got an offer, but it’s a little less than what I make now. The benefits are better, though. I’m torn. On one hand, I really do think things are about to get better at Intel, but on the other, I’m pretty sure that’s gonna come with some serious layoffs. So now I’m stuck trying to decide… do I take my chances and hope I make it through, or just take the offer while I know I have a backup?

Staying put. It’s foolish to voluntarily leave Intel now for Mag-7 Company. Intel is at rock bottom price with 2-3x upside if Intel delivers on 2025 commitments. 5-10x with foundry and external customers (3 years), 20x with competitive AI chips (5 years). Not to mention everyone who jumped ship for Apple, leaving a vacuum to be filled. Opportunity knocks. I don’t see similar upside those 3 trillion dollar companies with

No not smart. Just look around. Leave if you got an opportunity to do so.

Even if pay is less, i wouldn't switch unless the work I do at intel feels like dragging behinds on glass shards. Yes ,the financial sitrep at intel is bad, but not terrible. Plus you never know the culture of a company unless you work there for sometime. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. I have been in a same situation, it takes a toll to revert back if things go south

@be Another possibility is that OP is a sociopath (who should be fired if they ever worked at Intel) and that everyone responding to this is gullible, or the OP, and so should be fired if they ever worked at Intel.

OP either never worked at Intel or has no agency.

Worst kind of trolling.

Define little less OP. Anything 25% or above is significant. Anything below can always be caught up with in a few years and if the company stock is doing well.

". . . I really do think things are about to get better at Intel . . ."

Huh? Why on earth would you think that?? Those that survive the layoffs will find themselves working long stressful hours in Mr. Tan's Semiconductor Sweatshop. As Tina Turner sang in One of the Living, "The living will envy the dead."

Leaving is a risk but staying may be even riskier.

Nothing's fine, I'm torn
I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed
Lying na--d on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You're a little late
I'm already torn

We got 7 more paychecks at Intel, so you can switch jobs then or now.

I would go for it if there is a possibility to learn/develop. Little bit less money is still more than no money when there are lay offs and everyone is back to job hunting....
