The HURT is not a physical injury, it's deep emotional feeling that will never be wiped out from EM history (at least to the gen x, millenials, some zoomers). If you come to this board in the last few weeks, you see the unhappiness in the upstream/downsteam/R&D/chemicals... Many are PhDs, engineers, tech staff in the refineries/chem plants, operations, admin support (all without DOAGs). Let's be fair and open-mindeds to the company and shareholders, shedding costs (layoff/cut 401k match) maybe unavoidable (dividend cut is another way) in 2020 due to Russia-Saudi oil price war, political warfare with China, covid-19, BLM, "Karen" and ongoing news. The deep issues inside EM can no longer be hidden behind the curtain. WHY worker bees are unsatisfied?
- Is it really transparent and fair system that regular employees are ranked against supervisors/managers? Do you expect supervisors/managers would rank themselves lower than regular employees in the same ranking group?
- Why PIP is 8-10% in 2020? Why don't call it layoff as CVX, BP, Shell?
- Why force the staff (no DOAGs) over 55+ to retire, but no management? (maybe coming...)
- Why PIP new hires and mention resilient and long term career during recruiting?
Yes, EM has slackers and low performers. let's be transparent, the numbers are not 8-10%. Good PhDs, engineers, operations, admins are leaving because of "communication issues" and "behavior issues". The TRUE leaders will step-up and face the challenges with their staff together during these special times. Does EM have true leaders? Yes. But the rare gems have to follow the rules and play the games or their careers could be ended by the big boss.
Will EM ever come back? Possible if EM can find a true leader and top to btm are honest and transparent to the employees. Last but not least, feel really really sorry to whom are impacted. At this moment, it's really HURT
