Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

coming soon ISP ......................

its funny how certain groups feel they are protected. i recently left to get another job and glad i did. im happy a manager told me to start looking. ISP is the most overpaid group now in AUSA after the recent cuts. AUSA wants to be super thin, makes it easier to flip.

I am curious where ISP is still considered fat, in the Suddenlink footprint I know of regions where the there is no alternating on call, headend techs are on call 24/7/365. IF cuts are coming I would like to know what the expected ETR times would be after the cuts. We have systems where the nearest HE tech is more than 2 hours away, imagine cutting that person and now it 8 or more hours away to just get onsite.

I do not doubt they will gouge us again, just want to get a bullet to the head and go instantly.

ISP was already cut, there is literally like 1 or 2 people covering an entire area. On-call every other week! I can't see them hitting ISP again. All of Network Management is running razor thin and it really hinders achieving the companies goals. A further cut would mean we are dead in the water.

I just know one thing, if I left to go to another company the last thing on my mind is to go back to my old job forum to spread rumors/ gossip. Do you miss Altice? Were you bored? Are you praying this will happen? Are you happy at your new job ? Move on and live your life. Smh

I'd like to see them try and downsize our system any further, at one point we had 13 ISP and 5 OSP
in us and our two sister systems, now we have 6 ISP and 2 OSP and they've combined all 3 systems together for the most part. Our plant stretches out 100 miles (not actual plant miles thats just highway distances for one side of the system to the other) And because we're in the middle of BFE they can't even keep the few contractors they hire to stay because of the insane drive times between jobs

@otv+14zTQUFd So you think fs is a joke obviously . That’s funny cause In our Corp it takes 5 times to get something fixed and that’s not until they pull in the one guy that can fix anything. Also fs use to hand on call as well and they got rid of it and said osp was gonna be handling all the customers have issues after hours but we know that never happened cause osp had no idea how to fix fs issues . Right ! Stay on your pedestal I’m sure you’ll be safe . A$$hole

To the OP...do you think there might be a reason that ISP or OSP are paid so well? Maybe be it’s because they are worth the money when the $hit hits the fan. They don’t call FS at 3am in the middle of a blizzard you dik

i don't know about the OP but wow some people need to learn to write educated posts. this is a site for discussion. if you have something to say to OP with proof show it if not stop being d–ks. the OP stated they wrote what they experienced. is it true or not who knows but if people do some leg work or just let time pass it will be proven true or false eventually. i work in ISP and was told to check out the site its easier said than done to talk to a VP or higher but i will be talking to some coworkers to see if anyone has heard anything.

good luck everyone

why not ask a department head (vp or higher) to give you a straight answer in email saying im wrong? also try not to call people names without proof.

here ask this

"is ISP being looked at for down sizing"

i bet you will not get an email reply, you may get a phone call

Another person with no real information. Must feel great to put fear in the minds of workers at a time like this. Good job buddy and I hope you feel better after doing that.
