Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Checked out

I think a lot of members have mentally checked out already! We are all just waiting for the next round. Dell exec’s are overpaid and haven’t an idea what they are doing. Look at storage for example , storage for exec’s only have interest in AI for maybe 1 or 2 of the front line storage products. It’s been this way for a very long time , no resources or funding to any other LOB. Won’t name exec’s but we all know here who we are talking about , overpaid geeks who get pi---d off when the stupidly high margins don’t get achieved! Dell has to be for sale or merging imo, as from now on no one in the org trusts each other or their direct management..

It is basically becoming a Call Centre, clock in and clock out. Moving to a new employer even just for a 100$ more in my pay check… hoping to get layoff in the next round

I checked out mentally two years ago after an incredibly busy period. My pride in my work was the first thing to go and now I just punch the clock. 50% of my job now seems to include pointless calls, or 30 minute calls that could be solved with one email. If I was a graduate now I’d treat Dell like a service center - get your two years experience and move on. Do not stay in Dell.

Just being completely honest. I want to work. I was raised with a strong sense of work ethic. And I WAS glad I survived the last round because I need the paycheck. But suddenly it hit me, like a wave, just this sudden lack of motivation. The fact that I hit an obnoxious quota last quarter and still had to sweat losing my job? It’s crazy. The commissions are a joke compared to how much we actually sell in a bad market. I can’t find the motivation to push the boulder back up the hill again to hang on through another round of this. I’m sure I’m not alone but… yeah it’s got me pretty depressed honestly.

Like they want us to constantly worry about our “personal brands” but they clearly could care less about the company brand. What IS the brand? Just another lifeless place filled with sycophants who applaud layoffs when their overloaded don’t make their tens of millions of dollars in bonuses… it’s just sad.

Agree 100%
Morale is in the dumps for many folks. It’s all about the old boys club upstairs feathering their own nests. Services have great people but when you have bad leadership who are bunch of yes men it does nothing but create pain for the IC’s.

The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.
Bob Porter: Don't... don't care?
Peter Gibbons: It's a problem of motivation, all right? Now if I work my a-s off and Initech ships a few extra units, I don't see another dime, so where's the motivation? And here's something else, Bob: I have eight different bosses right now.
Bob Slydell: I beg your pardon?
Peter Gibbons: Eight bosses.
Bob Slydell: Eight?
Peter Gibbons: Eight, Bob. So that means that when I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That's my only real motivation is not to be hassled, that and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough.

I think at this point almost everyone has checked out. We are doing busy work and anything we committed to is going to have to be evaluated again because groups are going to continue to get slashed. We are wasting time and money.
