Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Young Citi People

To any young person considering joining Citi beware. If you get hired by Citi go for it. Get the Citi name on your resume. You’ll learn very old outdated processes and get no real world industry experience but atleast you’ll get the big name on your resume. Once you join you’ll work with people twice or three times your age paranoid about losing their jobs but they won’t lose their job because they’ve been at Citi for so long Citi won’t get rid of them. None of these people you work with will have degrees including your manager who got their job because they knew someone back in 1986. These people will tell you how much you don’t know and how useless your degree is. Don’t pay attention to this as they only speak this way to make themselves feel better since they are stuck and can’t go anywhere else. Just make sure you get atleast 2 - 3 years in then LEAVE! Apply to other more forward thinking successful banks and learn as much as you can. Citi is rotting from within. Its sad to see but unfortunately the leadership is incompetent and unwilling to make changes that would bring Citi back to its former glory.

Totally agree with the above.
I have worked in the past for other firms and I never seen a messy department as the one I am working in at Citi.
Issues gets caught by the client and takes ages to get transactions backup from upstreams teams.
The immense number of excel worksheets and files I need to update for one single task is absurd!
Just to give one example we currently have to update three different systems/files to book our holidays…
My team dashboard is basically the mailbox where we get bombarder with all sort of emails from all the teams in the department… I spend most of my day to organise the mailbox to understand what has priority and what is not useful info, lots of Zoom call most of the time are not needed.
Zero team spirit and if I raise a question about a process I get loaded with other questions but never a simple clear answer.
It is frustrating!
None of the process are linked together and no even a chance to use technology to improve the processes… I suggested several times to link the processes together but I only obtained more emails on my mailbox and they never thank me for the suggestions or listens to my solution, they just add more emails for their version of the solution!
My manager was complaining about AI and how little they trust technology but I wonder did they ever give a change to AI or have they ever looked at how other firm work? I am the youngest in the team but I am almost 40yrs!
I had mixed feelings about redundancy but in the end I believe is a good excuse to look for something better and more tech based firm elsewhere. I am only worried for the number of applicants are currently out there I seen on LinkedIn for one single open role.
last I saw there were 526 application for one role!

Anyone who suggests to use the VOE to provide feedback or to make a difference is either:
a.) trying to solicit an uproar
or
b.) truly clueless and naive to reality.

Its already been discussed at nauseam how useless HR is, so no need to go there.

There is a reason why employees give suggestions. If a company solicits suggestions only to tell employees to accept things as they are, then please DO NOT solicit suggestions

Post ID: @1inh+1rr5Aruq And what is the use of the VOE, Townhalls and Employee Hotlines when Citi can Not and does Not want to CHANGE for the World and its Employees. Instead Citi wants its Employees and the World to Change For Citi AND agree with Citi's Antiquated, Braindead, Out of Touch, Clueless, DvmbA$$ Policies???!!!

Citi is where you go to end your career and die. If you’re young don’t even bother unless you really need the job. Come back when you’re older and looking to relax and not learn anything new or of value. I hate this place more and more everyday. Im just waiting to either get the boot or until something better comes along. I REGRET leaving my last company for this place.

Post ID: @1inh+1rr5Aruq As other posters have already mentioned several times, this Site is NOT a Citi Cheerleaders Site or ILoveCiti Site. It's a COMPLAINT Site that's why it's called thelayoff.com . But then Citi HR is dense and DVMB anyway and can Not understand this. If you do Not agree with the critical posts and opinions then Get Off and OUT OF This COMPLAINT SITE !!!

Anyone can claim to be anybody on this board. I have no idea if you are truly Citi HR or not. If you are then you know that HR not to mention the VOE is not really respected or trusted.

Citi HR here.

For the employees that come here to simply complain, what is the use?

You can voice your concerns via appropriate channels such as VOE, Town
Hall or employee hotline. Use the tools!

@oqa+1rr5Aruq As Citi HR you should know why since you keep hiring people from those institutions to fix Citi.

Can anyone elaborate why "Goldman, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, UBS, HSBC, Santander " are forward thinking? What they are doing that Citi is not. Thank you very much.
