Exactly. There's a huge distance, between someone genuinely believing something to be true, and someone purposely just inventing something false, just for the purpose of trolling. If someone posts that they think Avenel MIGHT close for XYZ reason, that is one thing.

But for the same, donut-eating, 300 Pound, basement-dwelling, id1ot, to post "Avenel is closing Tomorrow", six Times per Month, when he Knows it isn't true, is absolutely not okay around here. That was never the intention of this site, to be a gathering place for trolls and fake stories. That does a service to nobody.

Lastly, this isn't a rumor anything. Only kids spread rumors, not mature adults. This is a place to read about retail news and journalism. Not for childish trolls who have nothing better to do because their parents took their TV away.

Yes, it's a rumor board. That doesn't mean that making stuff up with no evidence is OK.

This is a rumor board, the very goal and purpose when it was designed. I suggest you begin designing and implementing the journalistic board you desire so much. Sorry.

What they can do, is block any post with the word "closing", that doesn't have evidence. It is purposely, potentially, misleading employees, customers, and/or local media, etc.. To your point on VPN's, there are some websites (like Wikipedia) that do NOT allow anyone using a VPN, to post. That might be something to consider for this website.

As for rumors, no, that's what my kids in middle school deal with. Us adults, grown women, and grown men, deal with facts and evidence. I leave the rumoring to my adolescent kids, I'm too old for that.

While, I agree, trolls are best ignored, on the other hand, the inmates can't run the assylum, either. If this was a NFL forum, and someone kept posting some absolute nonsense, like Tom Brady got traded to the Jets, or something ridiculous like that, the moderators would immediately delete that garbage. Again, you can't have a forum where anybody can just write anything with zero restrictions. Then, again, you get to that 1990's Montana situation, with no speed limits, where people were driving 100 MPH on city streets and causing accident after accident. There needs to be some type of authority, be it, in law enforcement for speeding, or moderation for forums. Or else you descend into total anarchy.
There are plenty of reasonable people, who, even with no speed limits, would drive safely and responsibly. But, on the other hand, there are people who wouldn't. Can you imagine what would happen if Drunk driving was legal? I'd rather not imagine that. Any sane society, must have certain "rules of the road", whether it be minor things, like retail, or sports forums online, or more important things, like traffic and criminal laws.

Westwood will likely be around for a while. They actually have merchandise and the store is better organized than it used to be.

While I agree that these trolls are a waste of oxygen, the problem is they use VPNs to generate a new IP address every post. So when one is blocked, he(they) use a different IP. So until the MODS start blocking anything with the word "closing", which they won't do, we are going to have to totally ignore these posts. As long as they get responses to their posts, it makes them think their lives are better than they really are. Why do you think they keep doing it????

And remember, as posted at the main screen about Sears, it says this is for rumors. So asking for only facts isn't going to get you far.

Just wait for people to post real info. Until then, assume you didn't see anything. If you start fighting with the OP, then he is winning and you are losing.

@ccy+1dSp5cYV I Know. The OP is a loser in his basement. I get that. The problem is, he's not going to stop, until he IS STOPPED. If the cops stopped giving tickets, people will keep speeding. The moderators need to n-p this nonsense in the Buds. Or else, it will get worse and worse. Montana tried an experiment in the 1990's where they eliminated speed limits. I think it lasted about 3 Years, and they ended that charade, because there were simply too many accidents.
https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2019/02/22/no-speed-limits-nevada-montana-last-states-full-freedom/2947782002/
Sadly, the moral of this story is that we cannot rely on people to police themselves. Same applies here. Some 300 Pound troll, will keep writing this nonsense until they are stopped from doing so.
I'm not for censorship. We shouldn't control media as they do in China. But there needs to be some basis in reality, for the news we report. We don't want CNN reporting a Martian invasion, unless there really is one. If a store closing is posted, it should be removed, unless it has evidence to back it up. That's not too much to ask.

@nxp+1dSp5cYV I totally get you about not feeding the bears. But again, see my speed limit example above. They eliminated speed limits, for some Time. You could ignore the speeders if you want, but they were still there causing accidents. Similarly, these id1ots, with their fake news, are misleading a lot of people here. They need to be stopped by whoever runs this, just like those speeders needed to be stopped by the cops.

The OP didn’t say anything about it being for Sears. Maybe this was for the CVS? Too soon? Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Don't feed the bears people! Just another troll post. Nothing to see here, because Avenel & Westwood are NOT closing. At least not right now. They will probably make it to 2022.

I see no more evidence that you are correct today than I did last week, last month, or last year.
