Lots of folks mentioning you are to immediately log off from your computer if you are told the involuntary leave news, leaving no room to send a goodbye letter to colleagues. I suggest if anyone's worried to draft one up now so you can send it out real fast.

Separating employees with significant responsibility/potential to do real damage to the Corporation (e.g., facilities people) have had their laptop and badge taken away on the spot. No time to send any emails.
There is no immediate cutoff of machine or email access with Involuntary layoff.
even for the garden variety.
At least one week for transition out.
Immediate cutoff only comes with termination for fraud/theft/violence/d–gs/insubordination.
Dallas-level stuff.
Please don't send goodbye emails. I have worked with too many companies who have had layoffs and anger or disappointment bleeds through more often than not. The best approach is to look for people on LinkedIn, and only after you are able to have a conversation sans emotion reach out.
Got laid of yesterday, still in shock.
@nxg+18dN3jAH - Whoa tough guy over here.
Laid off yesterday. But i actually have several more months to work with the company. Was not forced to handover laptop etc. will be a long transition period.
Was strange but gives me time to find the next opportunity
Goodbye emails are straight up cringy and/or g–. Please don't send. Just ghost.
Not tough.. so many left in the last 4 months, new job offers, PIL, PIP.. will just reuse them..
Do you really need a goodbye email? I don’t use work devices to communicate with people I care about.
Not the case for me. I was told to transfer my personal contacts and files and return laptop later this week.
