Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Really think about the company you’re working for…

Well, on a previous post that stated “no layoffs in 2023” I commented three weeks ago that sadly that won’t be the case and here we are today….

Now there’s the typical people that come on here to show their love and the people that show their hate, it’s fine wherever you stand but let’s see what’s at stake here.

You are a manager with the company, what is your motivation? EVERY and i mean EVERY position between RSM and DM has been eliminated along with most DMs now worrying about their future as there will be reduced DM headcount soon.

I was part of the layoffs last year and it sucked. What people go through when a layoff happens is horrible. I did find something new and I have enjoyed this new chapter of my life as the stress is less, the people are genuine, and there isn’t a cult culture which makes it much more enjoyable.

But I come here time to time in the hopes of reading that things are changing for the better somehow and time and time again it’s horrible news. I feel absolutely horrible for every person that got let go today. You gave all of yourself to the company, some of you for 10+ years, and yes the severance will help but that’s assuming NOTHING else unexpected comes your way and that is so unfair for good people to have to endure with kids and families.

If you’re a sales rep, you’re probably ok but don’t be surprised if you see a reduction based on performance. Leaders, I said this a year ago, don’t be shocked if there’s 2-3 locations per RSM and reduction there, and more reductions across each channel including possibly eliminating RAMs and having key holders instead.

Is it easy to find a job? NO. Is it easy to walk away from what you’ve beloved and believed in for years? NO. But if todays not a reminder of WHY you should start aggressively looking elsewhere I don’t know what you’re working towards.

Prayers for everyone that has had their world turned upside down.

You must assume you can and will be let go. Plan and act accordingly.

To all of you that have been let go…DON’T be fooled into applying for new jobs that are forthcoming with the restructuring. There is no job security at T-Mobile. Especially if you have anything to do with the Metro side of the business. The very best thing you can do for yourself and your family is to take your severance and cut all ties with T-Mobile. I promise you will find something else. It takes a huge amount of courage to do this but at the end of the day you will be better off. I promise. Again…DON’T fall in the trap of hanging on in hopes to get another position. You owe it to yourself to move on! PLEASE trust me. I did two years ago and now could not be happier in my life.
