Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

People who got laid off where are you now?

People who got laid off in May where are you now ? How hard was it to find a job ? How long did it take find a job ? And how is the pay compared to your sabre pay ? Higher or lower?

With the week notice of layoffs happening I started looking and had a job offer in 36 hours after my last day at comparable pay plus Sabre severance. Super happy and the grass can be greener on the other side. My Sabre time was valuable for my growth but the last year after P25 was horrible and my new boss was an egotistical a--hole so was time to move on. Happy I left.

Leave on your own terms, interview while Sabre is paying you. There are always jobs if you are good at what you do. If you are not, then get better now. Learn new things on Sabres dime. Do not become complacent. Have an escape plan.

This is an interesting thread. Sabre was far and away the best job I’d ever had, but that probably speaks more to my past experience and not Sabre. I got a 50% raise when I started there, compared to my prior job.

Like with any company, you’re not gonna make a lot more money by staying with the same title for years and years. You gotta always be looking and willing to move around, and never sell yourselves short on salary. Ask for a stupid amount of money and you’ll be surprised at how many times you’ll hear “yes, we can do that!”

@3act+1oW3qYpf Thank You, your right whatever your experience at Sabre and where we are all at today was not for nothing. We all probably had more good moments with our Co-workers than bad. The few Bad we all ran into, left a very bad taste for Sabre in General. I gained personally from my time at Sabre and enjoyed my time in the aviation sector. I'm angry and sad that I was not given the chance to say farewell to the teammates I enjoyed time with during my 15 years at Sabre. Being shown the door with such short notice after being told by highest Sr Mgmt that no layoffs are planned is galling as to how big a liar they are. Best of Luck to all and try to stay Positive and not let a couple of losers ruin your attitude.

We all joined Sabre and while some of us have since departed for various reasons, I want to extend my best wishes to both those who have stayed, hoping for their continued success, and those who have left, hoping they find their dream jobs.

Many of us who sought different opportunities have been fortunate to discover positions that provide higher financial rewards and better work cultures.

Our experiences at Sabre have undeniably contributed to the foundation of our careers.

No matter your choice, continue to contribute, be a great team mate, and your success is bound to continue!

I was making around 135k as a Sr. Software developer in dfw. Glad I was laid off. Took me 1 month to chose my next position. I literally had 3 offers and negotiated to 175k base + 40k in bonus/stock option. Company also gave me 25k sign up bonus. I realized how much sabre was under paying me.

KRK. Paid 50% more. Took me literally just a few weeks to get a couple of reasonable offers, all of them paid better.
It seems to be consistent experience among the ones who were let go here.

I realize the huge difference between KRK and DFW markets- but it seems like we haven't really been paid market rates.

to the author of the msg below, did you mean that these financial companies are much better in this regard and if so, how?

Sabre gave me 2+decades of a great career, but I gambled and took the package due to all the wrong signs and C-Suite dysfunction. I went to work for one of the two financial powerhouses across 114 and it wasn’t until then that I learned what real culture, loyalty and respect was from an employer.

I found a contracting gig within a couple of months, but it really looked bleak for a while. June was dead silent on the job search front, but it picked up big in July.

Money is about the same, but no benefits. I turned off my LinkedIn “open to work” status, but still get hits several times a week. Any direct applications were all for naught…. I guess my resume is too large for the algorithms (so stupid).

Plenty of people are still looking, though. It’s very sad to see. COBRA Sabre insurance costs a fortune, and it’s ki-ling people…. Even the ones still getting severance.

Hang in there, y’all….

Applied for 700 jobs, got 3-4 offers. It was not fun. Took one with 40% lower pay. Now I only need to wait 30 years to get 30+ days vacation again. God bless Sabre's leadership.

Still unemployed. Pay will surely be lower. A lot of competition. Companies are only hiring for very specialized positions with extraordinary highly expert knowledge.
