Thread regarding Optum layoffs

May 28th RIF list

Did anyone else have to go back and add to their list of tributes for the May 28th layoff? I provided 2 names in OI and leadership came back and asked me to add a 3rd.

I'm also wondering if I'm on the list or my peer. There are new targets for how many people should be on each team along with having to mix onshore and offshore resources.

@qx The goal is to have more direct reports per manager so people managers can be laid off to save money. This has already been happening as part of RIF waves.

I’m so thankful I just left on my own terms the ptsd of constantly wondering about next rif and the toxic leadership won no severance for me but my quality of life so much better

@jd what do you mean there are several managers with just 3-4 direct reports..will they be all combined/rif ee so each manager will have 15?

@ne I have to say I agree. There are some amazingly talented individuals in ETIPS, I work with many of them. The ETIPS leadership is a complete joke though and political is putting it mildly. There are entire teams which seem "self created" and literally do nothing but talk about other peoples work. I can think of one entire group under JR that could completely disappear and nobody would realize it, not that aren't great people working there, they're just not in productive spots.

@kh anyone in IT would know ETIPS. it's a very large team but useless and political nightmare. It's time to let them go and form a new team.

What’s the new target for how many should be on a team. Some managers with optum at home have been managing 4 staff for at least a year.

Yes, this is what they do. Call it a reorg, We actually had someone hint to apply for jobs on LinkedIn, did training about it and two weeks later half the team was laid off.

I'm having my 1:1s canceled. From what I’ve seen on this forum, that can be a precursor to layoffs. We lost people the last few quarters so I wouldn't be surprised if our team is done.

@a1 don’t be fooled, reorg and redeployment are just code words for “you’re getting laid off.” Your chances of actually finding a new position within the company are very slim

@a1 I did. I'm a GL-31 in ETIPS. I had three people in my organization and was told to add one. May 28th is going to be extremely difficult in OT.

Not a people leader, but we were hinted to update our resumes in our last department mtg. I think it is for reorg, but could be in advance of layoffs.
