Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Finally Happened

Was presented with a red folder and escorted off North Belt Campus this morning. I worked as an advisor in Technology for many years. Sadly, I knew this was coming. Projects for next year have been frozen. I've been battling to get approvals just to order a few $ worth of parts for the project. Pretty sure more people will disappear. I now understand some other post saying that Winter is coming. Thank you for the Xmas gift HAL! Best of luck to y'all.

Well, I was asked to train some engineers in Singapore. Indeed many new hires, but I am concerned why do I need to train someone else to do our work?

Indian subcontractors are not replacing HAL employees. Project development is being moved to India and Singapore. I can confirm a disproportionately large number of managers of Indian descent at Northbelt.

I can confirm engineers in Singapore very busy with projects and hiring for more headcount is ongoing.

@nr
Is it true like the other poster said that there's indian subcontractors at NB replacing regular workers?

My impression is like i said before, this company has no vision or identity for itself other than ki-ling manufacturing here in the US and returning to being as pure a service company as possible. Which I guess it's a vision of sorts however they're getting outcompeted by everyone, mom and pop on the low end, baker/slb on the high.

If you've looked into baker hughes it looks like they're about to jettison their OFSE side so maybe halliburton is preparing for that, they will finally get their baker/hal merger that failed years ago.

I genuinely trusted my manager when he said the layoffs were over for the year. I finally felt some relief and was able to enjoy the holidays and time with my family—only to be called into a small office near the NB cafeteria and laid off yesterday.

@em You are right that there is no vision with management at all levels. Just a bunch of bean counters from corporate. I had a manager tell me this BS phrase I look at things from high up. Well guess what come down to ground level. That little dot from high up is a big mound of horse manure piled all the way above your head from ground level.

i left recently of my own accord, and I can finally say this because I'm free and don't have to cope but this company is f*cking dead. there is absolutely NO vision for halliburton from anyone, it's a ship without a captain. the plan is to purge any and all manufacturing and r&d from here to tiger/india, it will return to being a service only company here so if you're in the manufacturing side you have NO future. leave now, it su-ks but rip that bandaid off. i finally did it and yeah you have to deal with new bs but that's just life.

if you have any brains you will leave. it's why there's very few truly competent people left.

I can atest that some manufacturing has been outsourced to a contracted Indian company working onsite at North Belt Most of the assemblers have been converted over to the subcontract firm. A lot of offloading of headcount so benefits /401K will be cut to save corporate more money.

Hahaha, in an ideal world "Project managers are easily replaced, engineers not so easily." This is Halliburton. At Northbelt your job is secure if you are are project manager and better still, if you are also from a certain foreign majority.

Hopefully they will get rid of the useless project managers of the transferred/frozen projects. Project managers are easily replaced, engineers not so easily. I wont hold my breath though.

I can confirm that current R&D projects are being frozen or transferred to India/Singapore for next year. Manufacturing has been steadily been moved to China. Makes me wonder what's gonna happen to Technology in Northbelt.
