Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford or Boeing?

"You can’t take a 20- or 30-year employee and just dump them off to the side and think that you’re going to find somebody off the street that’s going to be able to do what that person does."

Are they... the same company?

Why do managers like young, naive workers? Because they don't know when they are being fed B.S. Older workers are harder to lie to.

F is penny wise and pound foolish, laying off thousands of engineers and product managers who have learned from prior mistakes taking a platform from a sheet of paper to a final product in showrooms. Ever read the book by Mary Walton? We are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past!

Looks that the new young teams with tons of arrogance are the ones pushing EV's and involved with aircraft doors flying off?

Yep, graduate from college and believe older experience who graduated from college are relics.

Sounds like brain washing from one of the Ford leaders................... Jimmy.

@pxw, it’s the arrogance of old white men that stagnates Ford from moving forward. You aren’t as smart as you think, You would have told Henry to not build a car because he doesn’t understand the intricacies of a horse and buggy.

@nou+1rhN1VVN no university in the world teaches the intricacy of real world vehicle design and manufacturing. elon just barely squeaked by without losing his fortune. if he didnt have a fortune he couldnt have done it. that company would have been toast.

“Young” does not equate with “better”.

Young people think it does because they haven’t had enough experience.

Years in a job often does not relate to performance. It can, but it’s not automatic. Often times there is a lot of value with new ideas from outside employees and energy from new grads. They also don’t carry the burden of cynicism. If you want to work where seniority is valued, join a union. Otherwise, expect your performance to be evaluated every year and if you aren’t improving, there is probably someone younger and newer who is. That’s who I keep on my lifeboat.
