Thread regarding Five9 Inc. layoffs

Five9 Rally 2026

OK Five9. Let’s use the rest of 2026 and show this industry that we have what it takes to get past the misdirection of previous leadership.

I want to see success for the Five9, the employees, and let’s be honest; I just want to prove all these ill spoken people on this forum wrong!!

I know there are pro Five9 employees that read these updates. I would love to hear from more of you.

@nn the fact this comment has down downvotes, is very concerning. I think this board is trolled by angry current and former employees, please go troll elsewhere.

We need an massive overhaul of leadership and EVPs, they have been the constant in all of this. There is no 'rally' until they are removed and fresh leadership is brought in. If you read all the grievances here they are all downstream of horrible high-level leadership and planning.

Until there is a new product team really pushing R&D, no more nepotism kids running sales, and new channel leadership we will likely be treading water the rest of this year. our channel program is a massive expense and gutting it is needed. we also lost a lot of good sales engineers so maybe some new ones too.

@nn fair points indeed. Also on an anonymous board, hard to know the validity of any pro/con comments. Who is to say anything is from actual employees or the same handful of folks in or outside of Five9.

As a Five9 customer, this is honestly concerning to see. When employees keep talking about layoffs, burnout, and people leaving, it makes customers wonder how it will eventually affect support and service quality. We want Five9 to succeed, but it’s hard to feel confident when there seems to be such a big gap between employee concerns and leadership messaging.

"misdirection of previous leadership"
The majority of the previous leadership is still the current leadership. Nothing has changed apart from the people working under them have been laid off. Nice try HR

I think we all want to see this company succeed, there's absolutely no question about that. My honest view, though, is that it simply can't until they clear out the incompetent management that has plagued Five9 for quite some time. We keep watching colleagues get made redundant, whilst incompetent leaders not only keep their positions but are oftentimes rewarded for their inability to execute. It's truly staggering.

The biggest issue is hiring (especially in Engineering) in low cost areas only. This spreads teams thin because US teams have to compensate by working across multiple timezones. It makes everyone stay up at odd hours. We have great engineers in the USA, if we are an American based company, hire here. We can have top talent then low cost talent that doesn't perform as well.

Honestly, I think the majority of people at Five9 want the company to succeed and are proud to be here. Most of us understand that when the company does well, employees do better too.

That said, there’s clearly a morale gap right now. A lot of people are feeling disconnected when it comes to compensation, career growth, staffing/budget cuts, and confidence in leadership direction. It’s hard to maintain a strong “rah rah” culture when people feel stretched thin or uncertain about their future here.

I don’t think most employees are rooting against the company at all. People want to feel valued, supported, and aligned with leadership. If those areas improve, I think morale and engagement would improve quickly too.
