Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Why are we having layoffs?

Go google UnitedHealth job openings. Then when you see the results, please come back and explain to me why we are having layoffs in the first place.

I believe what the poster said about a budget in hr either being used up or reduced next year. Also, is there a better way to give the impression that all is well to an outside world than to FAKE job openings when all they hear are rumors of massive layoffs? It's just uhc being the master manipulator once again

If you look at the openings being posted - as compared to historic postings- They have changed the grades . I have seen some Jobs that used to be level 28 have been modified ( example requirements for training or experience dropped) and downgraded to grade 26 or or even lower- but the job description is exactly the same as when it was grade 28 salary. I have applied for over 10 jobs since lay-off 12/4/19- got No- on everything . Yet, with my skills - getting so much interest elsewhere - I have multiple offers . UHG/Optum employees live now in fear of next wave. It’s disgusting and I am grateful not to be associated with them any longer # god send.

@nlr+13lRFt8j - I've noticed the downgrades too. They want a lot of skills and internal knowledge in addition to a degree for low GL's. It will backfire. No one paying for student loans on their BA is going to take a GL 25 job. Then on top of that requirement, they want X amount of years experience. Only hope is new graduates, but even that pay is too low, at least in my state.

I was let go in the october rif along with 5 other people on my team. Uhc has posted all of our old jobs in the last two weeks. The job titles have been tweaked and the pay grade was changed down a level. The job duties are identical to what we did so they are looking for someone to do the same things we did but with less pay.

Please tell us what department is handing out mandatory OT, there’s plenty of us who would be willing to assist in OT to get your department caught up.

The last wave of layoffs happened at the worst time of the year... it’s been so busy that we cannot keep up. No adjustments made to metrics. No help! I don’t remember the last time we didn’t have mandatory OT! Even made us work over the MLK wkend... they simply don’t care! Never felt so unappreciated in my life. Higher ups don’t give a s***!

I am not in HR but was advised they have a budget each year for advertising jobs. They have to, I was told, advertise all the time to use up the budget or they don’t get same amount approved the next year. So it gives impression of great growth to those outside, but may not in fact be factual or accurate that they are hiring since there are regular hiring freezes. Basically I believe what I was told, but maybe someone with more insight can chime in...?
