This is being done first time in the history of the company. Makes me think something is afoot. Agree?

What’s afoot is that CA doesn’t trust employees. It’s a projection of his inherent un-trustworthy personality.
@njz+1u1Q6B3U: Agree. I have suffered for many many weeks due to a coding error for a bug fix for a bug fix (most difficult to catch) from one of my previous team member (she is now gone). Everyone repeatedly asked during the code review. She was distracted and said yes after repeated questioning and she was always asking to repeat the question ("oh sorry, did you ask me? I was on mute. What was the question again?").
The bug was rolled in and delivered causing me 18 hour working days for 3.5 weeks nonstop. I had to take only 4 hours off for Thxgiving dinner and get on a call with QIPL. If we had been face to face, I would have rapped my knuckles on the table, asked her to took at the projector screen.
I hate WFH.
What “sense of togetherness”? Since 2015 we have been waking up everyday wondering if we are part of a cut list. The sense of belonging is long gone from the job market and QC in particular. These days we are all individual contractors, working job by job. Heck, I have more loyalty to my plumber than QC does to me.
Since both WFH and anti-WFH and hybrid folks all have decent points, I predict that WFH and hybrid are still the future (lots reasons why commuting is not practical), but technology still needs to get better so that sense of "togetherness" is maintained when remote. Maybe something like VR avatars? Let's see in 10 years.
See Schmidt’s view on WFH. Even though I used to work from home I was definitely disconnected and there was no sense unity. I hate to admit it, but work productivity and motivation is very high in the office even though we are staring at the face of layoffs. At least we feel we are in it together as opposed to being a lone soldier. Got to go since I need to go walk the dog, feed the kids, and get ready for the drive into the office. I feel I am more productive and efficient with my time. My manager is very understanding for personal time off for doctor appointments, major kids stuff, and leaving early to beat the traffic so I can cook dinner.
I wish all the best as we wait for the news.
