Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I've heard an ISG SVP said we Shoudl be happy to be paid in exposure

In a town hall he said something along the lines of "this next year will be just as hard as last, I can't do anything about your pay, but how often do you get to be part of such a big opportunity?"

Does anyone have more details or confirmation he actually said this?
How out of touch are these people?

@ne you nailed it.. Customers are walking, employees are demoralized, and the “savings” Wall Street applauds today are going to cost Dell its viability tomorrow. This isn’t cost discipline.. it’s mismanagement from the top, plain and simple.

@n1 Let me try to answer some of your questions. Dell isn't "saving" anything. They ate hemorrhaging cash at an learning rate. Desktop/laptop sales are in the toilet, and tbe little sales we do get are at much lower margins. The margins Dell is making on the AI grift are also laughable. The one area Dell could potentially make ridiculous money in (storage) is being mismanaged into the ground, and customers are practically fleeing to our competition. Ki-ling off sales teams for storage isn't helping either.

TLDR Dell isn't bringing in the cash like they used to and the only way to make the numbers people happy is to cut spending until the company bled dry. Then the investors can move on to the next victim.

They all say things like "we have some big things coming" or cr-p like that... Ok cool. The only BIG thing I want to see coming isn't a blue dell di-k about to get shoved up my butthole; but idk, maybe raises that kept up with inflation/cost of living? Maybe promotions?

Look bro/dell, NO employee is doing their job simply because they "love it." They are doing it for a paycheck and when year after year, all you can offer is a pathetic 2-3% raise - which basically comes out to like 50-100 bucks per check - is all then don't expect much "over and beyond" performance. Or even good performance.

People work because they HAVE to in order to survive but it's hard to pay rent/bills/etc... when inflation keeps going UP, things get more expensive and the best you can do is a comical "raise?" And don't even get me started on the utter lack of promotions for the last 6 years..

WTF is dell "saving for?" Covid is over. Why is travel still inexistent? Why are budgets CONSTANTLY low and/or straight up unavailable? Why is the training budge so pathetic? Why are promotions almost exclusively given to overseas folks and/or to people who i8's+? Why are we always on a hiring freeze?

WTF? Is dell trying to buy some huge company or something because, I'm not seeing the purpose behind all this penny pinching anymore.

@k7

if it's really so wonderful, he could volunteer and save a bunch of jobs. he's never going to do that. I wonder why...

We had our SVP talk to a finance town hall last summer. He talked about impending reorgs and "tough decisions". He went on to explain how getting laid off can be a blessing because several of his executive friends did, and they were able to take lovely 1+ year sabbaticals where they reconnected with their hobbies, spent time with family, and travelled the world. I think these guys really are disconnected from reality.

Our VP level is a bully and will say stupid things like that, but the SVP is more careful.

The modern day "let them eat cake"

Nothing more unimpressive than a Dell "leader"

Yes it was said in a town hall last week. Follow up email today reiterated a similar story.

@bz

and their bonuses! They make monthly bonuses these guys, 20K a month.

Did you know that? No you did not! Now you know.

They also have a salary review every 6 months if I remember. It's always adjusted to inflation, and this is a minimum.

Yeah, a few "town halls" ago with my org, our "top dawg" basically said the exact same sh-t. OK yeah sure, you may not be able to do anything with our pay but you sure AF have some major pull towards doing so...

Easy to say that "be lucky for what you make" and "if you want more money, this may not be the place for you" when you are making 400k/year and a monthly income of like 20k+...

I mean, if you want employees to actually do a good job and "care" about their job then... idk, fkn pay us better? Maybe make some calls and start giving promotions perhaps?

It's too bad you couldn't ask that question, "what big opportunity"?

They spew these statements but heaven help you if you ask for clarification.
