Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

“You will be surprised how low we will go.” (not to be taken out of context)

Change the 2U name to Chip's Discount Universities?

From the Inside Higher Education article:
"Universities that lower the tuition prices of the 180-plus programs they currently run with 2U will share less of the tuition revenue with 2U. Want to advertise? Paucek said he expected some of the universities that do so to make their new tuition rates and terms public, adding, 'You will be surprised how low we will go.'"

Whether you believe it even Chip says it or not- it truly IS easier to market less expensive programs (speaking from the floor vs c level). Thus also cheaper. This benefit to 2u re incentivizing partners to charge less.

@dahn - okay: yes and? What does that have to do with you acting like 2u is doing something tricky here? Something tells me you work for a competitor.

@1zft+1i071iih , the new model was Noodle, and that happened years ago...

Sure seems to me that the higher the rev share the more likely salaries at a campus will be impacted. Lower rev share either means the opposite or schools doing more staffing on their own side (more jobs). What you are saying here is just counter to all logic. 2u doing massive layoffs says in itself where the cuts due to the new model are happening.

@biz+1i071iih, you tell me. Why wouldn't 2U want programs to be less expensive? And do you mean less expensive because 2U is taking a smaller cut or because the universities are paying academic labor less? It makes a difference.

This is silly. Why wouldn’t we want programs to be less expensive?

@ncu+1i071iih, will Chip's Discount Universities do more of the old bait-and-switch with consumers? You know, get steered away from one school to another more profitable one?
