Good Lord. So far today, I've had to reboot 3 times and finally was able to get past 5 times of "remote connection failed" before i was able to get onto VDI...and now my outlook is wonky (yes technical term). I am in some sort of safe mode and I'm too nervous to try and reboot (yes I've closed outlook and tried to reopen it). So today will be an off day while I maneuver around in Outlook with my reduced menu options available on screens and the wonky look and feel of it. And it's so slow all over. This was a total waste of time...unless they can say what the definitive benefits are...it's more of a pain to workers than it is a help.

@1pxm+1n6bkUhu - yes, WF was years behind JPM in employee oppression. Catching up quickly.
"Virtual desktop is used to monitor what you do. WF can see exactly what’s on your desktop (it’s like sharing your screen), so they can see if you are being productive."
Is this being downvoted to oblivion because it's false or because people don't like it?
we had Virtual Desktop at JPM back in 2016. WF is ages behind in tech capability
Reboot what, your computer, or Wave? There is no, 'safe mode' on a vdi. Get your laptop fixed, goofball. Call TC, you have a hung session. Coming on a layoff board and complaining is par for the course, right?
Think VDI is bad? Wait until they make you buy your own laptop to work. That’s what this is leading to. First the corp phones go away and now lappies.
Feels like we are independent contractors, not employees.
For most, the culprit is an outdated VPN, not the virtual desktop. Marshmallows through a straw.

Avoid at all costs. All the corporate communications touting virtual desktop as a modern computing solution are laughable, at least based on the implementation here. When I try to drag a window to another monitor, the window lags 1-2 seconds behind my mouse. Literally feels like your inputs go through switchboard operators plugging in the wires each time to connect everything you do. It's easy to see why employee counseling hotlines and mental health get so much publicity around here as performing any type of mundane task in wave quickly becomes an exercise in computer anger and frustration. If anyone else was hiring right now in my field it would almost be reason enough to leave.
Are you doing VDI from a WF computer, or from your home computer? The latter only being possible if you have been approved that far, but for me the VDI from my WF laptop was never very good, but was extremely reliable from my personal home computer.
I would say it was actually better to do VDI from my home computer than using my WF laptop natively because my WF laptop was from 2018 or so and dead slow. I was just laid off though, so not my problem anymore, but VDI wasn't a problem for me.
Such a cluster. I really hope they don't resume the rollout.
Since all of tech is going to India keep in mind this is the new norm. These Indians are totally stupid and hopeless
Typical short-term corporate thinking. VDI looks great on a balance sheet. It doesn't look great from any other perspective.
A technology upgrade that's a total mess here? At WF? Nooooooo, never. They have current skills!!!
I heard we are thinking about increasing the passwords from 16 characters to 32 in the near future.
If you're not already, start documenting these problems. You won't remember them that well in 6 months, and if you get accused of slacking you can refer to the repeated tech issues.
VDI is total BS...tech upper mgmt must smell it too...but will NEVER admit to rolling out sh*t. MB made everyone load ZOOM for his town hall....nuf said
Can't understand why I takes so many attempts to connect.
#bankontech
Just don't bank on Wells Fargo tech
Yeah it’s absolute cr-p. Now we have to unlock our PC and the VDI interface every time. The lock on the laptop is all you need.
Multiply that times 20,000 people and see how much time is wasted each day.
