Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Some deductive logic for this forum

Dell announced 5% layoff in February. It wasnt announced due to kindness. They announced it due to and/or
legal, geopolitical, pr reasons.

Now the mindless on here will have you believe a bigger is on the horizon yet no announcement.

One here would like you to believe it's already happening in Europe which has the most extreme labour laws. Yet again no announcement nor news coverage.

@OP+1nR7ZGFI you just don't have the insights. Stay tuned. It's happening.

Our teams had layoffs end of May/first of June after quarter end. More affected than Feb. So.... won't be surprised if the same after this quarter.

Yeah I don't get why some people are rooting for layoffs either. Or say that they hope that they are on a hit list. Just quit already and find a better job. Turbulence like this is stomach churning and the more industry layoffs there are, the more competition in the job hunt. My personal thoughts on some of these layoffs are that companies were sick of the silent quitting. They wanted to yank chains and remind the workforce of who is in charge. What better way than an industry wide shakeup. For the first time in history, employees were giving the middle finger to corporate America on cr-p wages and conditions and it actually worked for a while. But hey the elites couldn't have that.

If there is no VSP then some of us can only hope to be laid off.

@1etu+1nR7ZGFI - Totally I agree with you. Really strange that people are rooting for layoffs as it hurts families. People have kids, families and depending on this job (whether they like the job or not, whether they like the company or not...). Just for curiosity, I browsed other companies in this site and even HP/HPe posts are better than Dell.

It's strange. Seems the people on here are actually very pro layoffs.

Go onto other boards. You won't see CURRENT employees arguing so vehemently for layoffs.

If you want deductive logic, look at the revenue numbers from the last earnings call. Look at Chuck's departure. Look at the 1H forecast going into the last week. Look at the status of the consumer economy (through competent eyes, not through the eyes of a Biden admin).

Nah, nevermind...just stick with calling other people mindless. It's working well for you.

Yeah. It's been ongoing like this since FEB.
Every month a new prediction.
Something may be happening but not to the scale they wish.

in all fairness, in some area of Dell, we are not hearing a peep, seriously. We are told things are going well and have plenty of dev work. We are a dev group in ISG and not a sales group so not sure if that is part of why we're not hearing anything. We were not affected in any way in Feb. I believe the rumors on this site because they were right about February. With the recent departure of Chuck, I'm assuming there are shakeups coming.

In Feb Dell laid off enough folks that it triggered WARN regulations where legal filings and public announcements had to be made…but remember, it wasn’t until early (like 3am?) Monday morning the week of layoffs taking place that the embargo on these filings/disclosures were lifted. I don’t know what’s happening in August, but if something is happening, it makes sense it hasn’t been announced yet, and wouldn’t until the week of it actually happening.

All the naysayers here last January learned that lesson. These rumors are not baseless. Cuts ARE coming. There have already been some and more are coming this week. The bulk will be the week of August 7th. I don’t know how anyone who works at Dell can’t see that it’s coming. Rumor forums or not.

It was announced as they were doing it - not before. And, why would they announce anything before the EOQ? That would cr-p all over any motivation left to try to close out Q2 with a bang. Maybe you should develop your critical thinking skills before calling other people mindless.
