Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

"Not enough income"

Straight from Paul Lalljie, the company doesn't have enough income to be profitable anytime soon. also talked about taking a hard look at what's working and what's not, spoke several times about hard decisions to be made moving forward.

addressed further downsizing, yes. "we need to support a lot of debt"

re: 24-72hrs - are you actually serious or is that a sarcastic comment? Do you have specific examples? My hunch here is that you're irritated because you have an objective to meet that no one agreed on outside of your organization and your leadership does nothing to support you.

Don't get mad at the people who don't respond, get mad at your leadership for not supporting which is the absolute theme of this company .

Infuriating company so many individuals go 24-72hrs without replying to slack chats when PTO is not active. You are the real MVPs for robbing the company

Hope this company burns to the ground. Profiting off of student debt. Truly disgusting business model. Should be regulated into oblivion.

It's to be expected if the company has a chance of surviving. Hopefully there not too many rounds of layoffs left and they can turn this company around. We'll see

The only reason RTO was brought up was because someone asked

RTO seems like a strange issue to even be discussing unless it’s in an effort to force resignations since most of the company isn’t anywhere near an office anymore.

"small teams with big salaries"

I'm sure that he means the C-suite at 2u. Otherwise, dust off that resume.

There was an all-marketing team Q&A with Paul, Matt, and Mike this morning and he did say something along these lines. He was pretty blunt about revenue not being where it needs to be and Bootcamps cannot afford to be down 40% YOY again.

Said downsizing wasn't the plan right now but if they have to either increase revenue or reduce costs and they will re-evaluate in a few weeks if they can't find where to increase revenue.

Finally, he mentioned being pro-"small teams with big salaries" in terms of future reorganization. But could not rule out future layoffs.

Questions were also asked about RTO and said he is pro-RTO but would not require the company to do it.
