The not-employed-by-GM trolls really need to give it a rest. This is pathetic.

Could I be excused from the 7 am meeting then?

It's a culture of halfassing it and disconnected management.

In Austin even before the pandemic and WFH, the place was pretty deserted before 10 am and after 3 pm.

It's not a post pandemic coffee badging thing, and seems to be that way in every office.

tbh I don’t think it’ll be that major of a change even if they do make it 5 days… people will just do the Warren schedule, drive in at 6 or 7 am, floor is empty at lunch. People are just gonna push the 4 hours 1 minute rule even more. I work 4 days onsite regardless, 5 days periodically, but a lot of Pontiac people don’t have permanent seating anyway, so managers don’t really care where you are a lot of the time as long as work gets done, we’re all split between Pontiac, Warren, Milford so unless you have a micromanager, no one’s actively enforcing these things. It’s a lot more relaxed with the understanding around kids’ schedules.

@sm
They are in a union. If you want to get your career advice from uneducated people who pick up trash, go for it.

@mm if that's true then they need to be paid a living wage. Your description doesn't make the point you think it does.

This comes from a reddit post where someone 'heard it from a janitor'.

But then they would lose the option to fire people while they're working from home like they did today.

@b1

For sure. Hard to get those boots fully down your throat, with any physical distance between you and the boot wearer.
