The company should offer such a program so people who are willing to leave could have the option and reduce the size of layoff.

if considered a resignation, that could make you ineligible for severance and state unemployment benefits
Everyone could resign. A voluntary reduction program surely should have package similar to or better than layoff severance package.
@ey we don't even know the price, how can we tell them the truth?
@mk there are many risks as identifying yourself as willing to be laid off. I believe it is much safer to continue doing the best work you can, while pursuing other opportunities outside of the company
@ey What would be in return? Is it going to be just a resignation, or can they take part of the severance package?
