$hittybank Laidoff literally one week before Thanksgiving Day in 2023 up until 2 days before Thanksgiving Day.
I will Not be surprised if there are Layoffs during the week of November 18, 2024 up until Tuesday Nov. 26.

Right now, I’d so take a layoff package and put Citi in the rear view mirror.

@1qxq+1vdThKQa Toxicity in people isn’t considered a mental disorder. But there could be underlying psychological problems that cause someone to act in toxic ways, including a personality disorder. These include narcissistic, borderline, histrionic, and antisocial personality disorders; bipolar disorder; and posttraumatic stress disorder.

Post ID: @1fsa+1vdThKQa You know what they say??.... What do you call someone who speaks 3 languages? Tri-lingual. What do you call someone who speaks 2 languages? Bi-lingual. What do you call someone who speaks 1 language? American. This is still No reason to ostracize and snub people!

Post ID: @1qxq+1vdThKQa Cheating in school and during Exams are also accepted, expected and tolerated in Non-Western countries especially in Citi's favourite country :D . Just Google this. There are even videos of parents who wait by and/or climb through the windows to give their children Cheat notes and materials while the children are taking the exams.
They set a good example for future "leaders" that they only way to move up in the world is to Cheat your way up. There are also media reports and photos of students who are mandated to wear hats during Exams that block their peripheral view so that they're Not tempted to Cheat! None of this happens in the USA. Can you imagine the Lawsuits??!!
Unless the colleges or universities are in the USA or other Westernized countries, the educational and integrity standards are Low if not Non-existent.

I really enjoy the tribalism at work. All the different cultures have purposefully claimed sections of the buildings so that they can all sit together, speaking their own languages. Luckily I'm trilingual and can fit in somewhat, but goid luck fitting in if you're an English only speaker.

Citi Tech teams are a joke - I have never used such buggy and unproductive stack of software in my life. Example - my laptop restarts every day in order to handle the 10+ security applications on board. Everybody around me is complaining how slow are the web systems in Risk. It is a sh-t show. I am happy management realized there is a lot of dead weight - especially the so-called Indian Tech geniuses who are either on visas or operating directly from India... Nothing racist here - just the reality - low education standards. In my previous firm we did not hire Indian grads from schools outside the top IITs because we knew quality drops significantly outside that range of universities. Not to mention that even the IIT grads are a mixed bag...

Well, if we go with the past trend of last year, layoffs could happen in November again before the holidays. Who really knows and people aren't really sharing timelines. Bunch of reorg stuff still happening in data tech area. Just know that there's no way that they can get staffing numbers down to their goal by 2026 w/out layoffs here and there. Maybe not mass one's but layoffs are in our future.

Post ID: @lfu+1vdThKQa When companies say, "Restructuring" or "Transformation", these are euphemisms for Layoffs and the company is Not generating enough revenue to stay afloat.

In tech, no one is saying the word layoffs but it will happen and I can feel it in the air. The new phrase is "budget cuts." I've been to a handful of these meetings already. Senior management is questioning every single project over a specific limit. Guess what? Most of those projects have been significantly reduced with more to come, which means people cuts are next, starting with contractors and then employees. My manager has already been asked to reduce vendors since earlier this year

I anticipate the next round will start in Q1. They will nitpick the stupid stuff like RTO and use that as an excuse not to pay bonuses, and may even use it to select employees for the next round. I've seen a lot of issues getting promotions through already and ratings being skewed lower. The job market is bad and attrition has been much lower than they hoped so no, the rest will not "be handled through attrition." With any luck, I won't be here by the end of the year and will gladly help the attrition rate.

Post ID: @mid+1vdThKQa Looks like HR's nerves were struck ! ROTFLMFAO! And the Potemkin Village of Feckless !d!ots will remain at Citi because Citi is unable to retain or attract quality employees with its Fvcked Up policies and penury. And why bother bending over and going above and beyond the call of duty when we're Not going to be rewarded for it anyway?? Just listen to, watch or read the media reports. Citi is the laughing stock, punchline joke of banking. LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!

Pretty much done at this point. Low performers and those jerks who can’t be bothered to come in to the office 2 days a week will be targets for Q1 25. Rest will be handled through attrition. My team for example has shrunk from 50 to 35 people in last year and a half…
