I think these days you need to be in the top 5% (or better) to get nontrivial RSU awards. So it's hardly just "bottom feeders" who aren't getting any.

You must really s--- if you get a 5k/yr RSU grants. Look inwards.

I never gave out less than 5k shares to anyone at oracle.

Different groups/orgs get different budgets and allocations guidelines for raises, bonuses and equity. No doubt there will be groups where 5k shares are common. I used to get 10k+ shares as an engineer. Now as a senior manager with a lot more responsibility and a highly technical role I get a fraction.

In my own org, the budget has been shrinking for 10 years. No way that I can give anyone 5k shares. Equity was something that could make a difference. Now with the shrinking budgets and underperforming stock it isn’t much of a reward or incentive to stick around.

just move your lazy a-- outside of oracle and see if any top-cloud generation company gives a rats to your 'good engineers' software creation.... full of bugs only to s--- the support contracts from the fed up customers..

I've worked at more than a few places where there were zero RSU grants. Sure, you get options at startups, but at established firms those kind of rewards are rare for individual contributors.

But the stock grants for engineers have been garbage over recent years. The pie was getting smaller to the point that you were lucky to get an RSU grant worth a miserable $5k a year. That is pathetic in the grander scheme of things.

RSU grants, what most people choose, are sort of immaterial to 10-20% moves in stock.

@1zzj, yep, keep talking. So, how's Oracle stock doing these days compared to ANY of our competitors. If management is so good at incentivizing the right people, why does our performance s--- so bad?

Because LE plays favorites. It has been reported that he gloms on to whatever hot in the tech sense engineer happens to be making good at the moment. No one else gets the time of day. He doesn’t seem to want to mentor or develop, just use and abuse once there is some gain to be made.

Most orgs didn’t peanutbutter raises but rather have the raises to their top engineers as larger 10%+ raises. Similar with RSU grants.

If you aren’t getting raises and stock grants, this is a YOU problem not an oracle problem. Spend more time doing your job than whining about why you’re bottom 50%

Oracle is the worst company when it comes to giving out raises, unless you're a CEO - then you get YUUUGE raises.

Why would Oracle give cost of living adjustments to people they hope will quit? It doesn't matter how skilled you are or how hard you work. LE, MH, SC, TK want a smaller company, full stop. If your job does not contribute, in some obvious way, to cloud revenue in the next 2 quarters, they want you gone. We are not playing the long game around here.

Field sales hasn't had a cost of living adjustment for years, other forms of compensation (e.g. car allowance) have been cut and the quotas have effectively lowered overall pay as well. In some groups, the technical sales roles (e.g. SCs, ECAs, etc.) have only been getting a partial bonus for the past couple of years. However, some individuals were getting specific adjustments in the past few months in order to try and retain them.

That other groups are getting inflation adjustments says a couple of things. First, that field sales isn't valued. Given MH's penchant for cutting costs and his dream of moving sales work to hubs filled with less expensive personnel, this shouldn't be a surprise. Second, that even when Oracle is hanging out adjustments, it is the bare minimum. Check out what other companies do and it is much more than just a cost of living adjustment.

Oracle isn't going to implode, but it certainly isn't anywhere close to as important or as successful as LE or MH make it sound.
