Wow, someone knew what they were talking about 2 weeks ago. Makes me that much more curious tbh.

@m7 Cengage ran the business into the ground. Acquiring Infosec, giving massive growth goals while blocking resources. They were supposed to provide resources, not take them away. What a fail.

@ae 20-25 people would shut down Infosec. That number seems high.

When are the Infosec layoffs happening?

Its always great to fleece big, d-mb companies to overpay for your company.

Pearson paid $500mm for College and essentially shuttered it 5 years later. 60% of acquisitions never work. The folks who do the deals put them on their LinkedIn profiles like a badge of honor, (see Reses, Jackie), despite the disaster. They do this because they are playing with other people's money with no regard for the folks who have to continue to work at the acquired company, which loses its entrepreneurial spirit and identity.

Good for the Infosec Founder. He found the fish, and that fish was MH.

Poor performance - what do you expect? Oh, wait, that’s right, this is the entitled area. The company should pat them all on the head, give them free food and drink - maybe a bonus for running their business into the ground?

Wait? Cengage made a d-mb financial decision? I’m stunned!!!

It seems that Cengage did make some unwise financial decisions from 2021-2023. Now we're facing the consequences of those decisions.

That was such a dog of an acquisition - peak 2021 fever driving Cengage to spend ridiculous sums on a second-rate company...only one who made out well on that was Infosec's founder who now has F-you money
