They’ve skipped the WARN act every time.

This is because it mandates two months notice. They’re giving you more than two months salary, so it works out in your favor. Part of the severance agreement you sign waives your right to sue over lack of sufficient notice.

Of course you COULD refuse the severance and sue, but the best you could hope to recoup is two months pay…

@m5 I'm not even sure exactly what you are trying to say, but 33% of 108k is 36k. Whatever point you were trying to make, let's do the math right.

yada yada yada... people love spreading fear in here and I'd bet the majority in here aren't employeed at Dell anymore. I look at this site every few months to see if there is any juicy "gossip" and when it comes to layoffs, everyone always says outrageous numbers and bla bla bla...

Layoffs happen year round at Dell lol. The "big" ones are usually Aug/Sept and then again in Feb/March. But they are never that "big." The only HUGE layoff I've ever seen was in September of 2019 right when covid was becoming a "big deal."

@f2 Double digit thousands would trigger the WARN and considering Dell is at a 108k employee headcount, 33% of that is 3500 people. So no, it is far from "double digit thousands" you mo--n.

idk why but, i have a feeling its just going to be the same orgs who are always hit with layoffs next week. Again.

As we know, Dell sneaks around WARN so it's 100% NOT over "double digit thousands." At most, they can't layoff more than 3500 employees without triggering WARN. Meaning, it's at or under 3500 people.

It might be a few hundred people next week - IF that even happens - or it could be 3k people but, does it even matter? Dell is laying off people every week. Every month. Every quarter. They do it slowly throughout the year and then have their regular large layoffs twice/year, like they've done since forever.

It'll be under 1k I guarentee you. Then there will be trickled layoffs the rest of the year.

Next weeks (large) terminations is just pre-gaming for September.
Don't worry, everyone has a place on 'the list.'

Friday 8th. Yes hearing a rather large in the double digit thousands. Except all Finance orgs will be pushed out to the 15th so they can get all the eoq cr-p done.

If you are in the orgs/groups that usually get hit with layoffs then, I guess start preparing? If you get let go then, at least you have 4 - 5 more checks coming in - or more depending how long you've been there - and use that time to rank up in your game(s.) Then after, go file with Texas Workforce Commission and get 6-12m of unemployment.

Honestly at this point, layoffs are every day. Every week. Every month. Every quarter. Every year. the "big ones" tend to happen in Aug/Sept and Feb/March, though.

Usually the same orgs get hit time and time again... Sales, ISG/CSG, HR, Marketing, portions of IT, overseas Engineers, tech support, field techs, etc... It's the same sh!t every single time.

The constant layoffs is my second biggest complaint about dell. First being lack of compensation. Luckily I'm in a role, department and area that tends to be pretty immune to layoffs so, I've never been worried about my job. However, it always makes me nervous and stressed anyways.

I need to stop coming to this stupid site because I had no idea layoffs were even happening until last week. Thanks to this site.

Doesn't really matter. It's not going to stop any time soon.

There will be a big hit next week, there will be one next quarter and most likely a bloodbath in Q1. They are on a roll and won't stop. They already know everyone hates them and they don't care. "All in!".
