Thread regarding Optum layoffs

If you thought Medicaid accounts kept you safe from being laid off…

Just know that offshore works Medicaid behavioral, medical, and dental claims for a variety of states. From State of Alaska all the way to the State of Wisconsin.

Corporate is playing a very nasty game with us.

Y’all: Medicaid aint safe. Much of Pharmacy benefits from CHC is redundant with OptumRx and there sweet and big “synergies” to be had. Big IT project that overlaps another kiboshed. Employees RIFed or just leaving making for more work and more pressure on the rest of us frontline workers. It’s slash and burn time in the months ahead and is widely known. It’s “just business”, so it’s smart to get your networks, resumes, and LI profiles shiny and current. The good news is that many who have left have found great gigs, me too.

Not news. They've been doing this for years. I work with offshore AR teams. All payers.

The problem is no one can understand offshore accents. Especially Seniors. But who cares soon all will be dealing with chatbots so executive management can line their pockets.

“There is no regulatory agency that requires any thing to be done in the good old USA.”- this is exact why the jobs got moved offshore to have someone making such statement. You are totally not trained or aware of regulatory compliance what it takes to support US healthcare. As long as there is US dollar for you to take with zero awareness of what it takes to deliver quality work.

The simple fact is this company is global and there is no reason to hold on to American employees. There is no regulatory agency that requires any thing to be done in the good old USA. If there are a few companies or states that don’t want stuff offshore Optum/ UHG has enough cash to pay those fines. Optum Global has ramped up its hiring overseas. Paying sign on bonuses for foreign employees that are basically peanuts to them. They have over 20000 employees and 5 offices in the Philippines alone and still hiring while they are laying off Americans every week. They have automated departments and don’t need workers in those departments. Witty is English. He not concerned about American employees. He just wants the cash American’s can give him.

This org is notorious on short cut/workaround to avoid compliance/regulations. The workers (onshore/offshore) are the ones pay the price. The top is pitching onshore and offshore one against the other creating a highly toxic, demoralized culture.

Yes, lobbyists get to share the "loot". How often our customers complain on being routed around on simple requests? Top people use that as an excuse on "antiquated" systems, "legacy" technology skills, resource overhead to further justify for their incompetence, etc. When in fact, its lack of strategic roadmap to plan for ongoing sustainability and take this org into a "healthy" tomorrow....

"Greed" continued to be the driving force in support of those being rewarded with stock options/bonuses.

@lyw+1mLIyXzp It’s not. I’m sure they found a loophole with the help of a lobbyist.
