Thread regarding Synamedia layoffs

R.I.P. Synamedia

This company has become a mangled sad mess of a thing with a cynical leadership direction. Let's call a spade a spade : The ELT are just clipping the ticket on its way to bankruptcy. In the power vacuum that exists because of this, Syna is now entirely run by warring factions like HR and Finance (who try to justify their bloated teams in the ongoing power struggle).

HR spend their days working on motivational feel good projects to stroke their own egos, instead of being a service to the company. Instead they believe they are the raison d'etre. We don't want new goalz, we just want want you to answer our admin queries. Improve our mental health, whilst at the same time making folk redundant. Do you not find this ironic?

Finance are keping busy trying to encroach on everyone else business in the name of efficiency. Yet it would be most efficient to leave the people alone doing the work, and just deal with the invoices.

The worker bees get the shaft and see their numbers dwindled away - if you do a good job you will be rewarded with the work of your exiled peers. Although to be frank, work is thinner on the ground than a certain bald mans folicles. After all, the company clearly doesn't care about security any more, especially after a certain persons departure. Our customers are losing subscribers at a fair old clip and are totally over the protectionist mob strong arming of yesteryear. This is a dish best served cold by all our favourite CTO's and CEO's.

The new products are a fairy tale myth that we will never sell any volume - sorry but this won't fill the revenue chasm left by BT. MCS - as useful as a chocolate teapot.

The people who have tenure wait for the knock knock of the impromptu manager meeting, into which HR suddenly appears (as if by magic) to deliver the poorly scripted death knell. Ah how sweet the taste of release and a juicy pay out, as there's zero incentive to leave for these old farts.
If you've done less porridge then do yourself a favor and jump ship to somewhere less toxic, as we now rival Springfield Lake.

All this negativity and no solution you say, well this peoples philosopher does have a couple. Rip out the guts and skeleton of BT and offer to outsource our major customers operations departments. Or sell the useful bits to Sky group.

At the same time we can send our ELT back to the harpie world of PE where they can rinse and repeat this shizzle somewhere new. How these worthless oxygen thieves sleep at night is beggars belief, ah wait it's easy when you're a sociopath.

HR are doing what HR does, shepherding people out of the company with the least risk of legal blowback, bringing in fresh meat, and trying to divert the workforce from their ongoing misery with a series of meaningless distractions.
Finance are doing what Finance does in any PE-funded near corpse, helping keep the patient alive while the owners transfuse out cash and inject debt, the servicing of which is now the whole point of Synamedia. Any other stated corporate objective is simple misdirection. Forget investment, innovation, any groundbreaking new product (in fact, any new product worth typing the words).
Built on a foundation of sand, Synamedia feels like it crossed the bankruptcy event horizon long ago.

@lyj+1rXgl27c To do this would bring an end to the gravy train for the executives on their 6 and 7 figure salaries. So it won't happen any time soon!

It's been said before:

MCS = Close down/give away
VN = Sell
BT = Manage decline as profitably as possible for as long as possible

I much prefer the blunt honesty from the CFO to the poorly presented fluffy rubbish from our CPO/HR.

The CFO is infinitely better than the previous CFO. He seemed to struggle with basic sums...FY22 bonus of $xxm announced with $0m cash on hand...In any properly functioning company the CEO would have been turfed out for overseeing that. At least the old CFO was sent packing.

The wheels do appear to be falling off on the CPO wagon. There's only so long someone can keep up the ultra-positive front when you know the truth of what's going on. She's been all over the place recently.

To HR, International Women's Day is just that, International Women's Day. Dragging it out for a whole month just comes across as making work for yourselves. As someone above says, trying to justify the bloated team!
