Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Layoffs today

10 people cut from our department today. Anyone else? Formal announcement this week. I assume tied in with Wael all hands meeting on Wednesday…

Well if you have internal job alerts set up, you can see how roles are being affected.

Several different teams, mostly Maintenance, P&T, some of OPS. They are targeting areas that have had low ROI for any projects completed. They also appear to be after areas that have redundant roles. Rumor out of the east is JG 5 and up are re-applying for their roles.

North America is in for a rough ride with McKinsey being the consulting firm brought in for the re-org.

Just Curious - if you’d been the one evaluating staff for redundancy, would you have picked the same 10?
Most of the time, when it’s known who was cut, it’s not a huge surprise.
But sometimes, real contributors are let go. Was that the case in your group?
