Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

Negative performance reviews

For those left behind after the most recent layoffs, have you received unsubstantiated negative performance feedback with threats of a PIP?

2U leadership is disgusting and will continue to make below the belt moves to make its employees feel inadequate. So many managers and directors are desperate, low life sociopaths who will continue to s-ck this company’s c-ck to put themselves in a (delusional) better position at the expense of someone else’s.

I recently asked a manager who's relatively high up if the company was hoping to cut more budget via attrition. They told me that the opposite was true; they're afraid of losing too many people and are actively discussing steps they can take to retain high performers.

@1gsj+1qZdYhnM there are no numbers or data to track. Five years of excellent reviews under 2 managers who were let go last round, and this feedback comes from new manager.

I got pip’d out after four years of good manager reviews. New manager, suddenly everything’s terrible.

If you’re not trying to get out, you’ll get outted. They don’t care about you. Wake up.

Is the feedback "unsubstantiated" or based on your numbers and trackable data?

and it’s not just “curiosity” - just bc I am not experiencing it atm doesn’t mean it’s still not happening within my segment/dept and if it is then I know better to be prepared. If it isn’t then it gives a lot of people a better sense of where the morale and leadership challenges are concentrated vs making assumptions it’s org wide.

Honestly I didn’t even think of that - not my motive at all but understand why there could be concerns that info would be used that way. Honestly even if it was just clarified ACs vs degree that would be helpful - but I see now why some may not want to clarify that.

@ptk+1qZdYhnM This is an anonymous board, if it’s not effecting you, great. Anyone paying attention to this board is well aware that different pockets exist in this company and not all segments have a pleasant work environment. Fishing for details that might get someone identified because you’re just curious and personally aren’t experiencing the issue is in bad faith.

Level promotions we skipped in the fall- not annual raises. Those happen 1x a year typically and in the spring. We are still waiting on word if a) there will be a spring promotion cycle b) there will be yearly merit (non-admissions) or flat raises and c) if there will be any bonus options. No “yearly raise” has yet been “skipped”.

Someone made a similar post recently, managers are using or ramping up a bunch of intimidation tactics, micromanaging, adding more work load to people who are still here and repackaging it as something it isn’t, it’s just overworking and underpaying, especially after we didn’t see a pay raise in the fall. When Paul took over, he talked about retaining talent and this is not the way to do it. In higher up meetings between managers and directors, the push is to basically get more than what you pay for from people, add pressure, and essentially gaslight people and make them feel like sh-t for not hitting every goal perfectly. The elephant in the room is that this company made its own bed and is desperately looking for someone to blame and a way to save themselves. Get out ASAP, or wait for them to fold, either way I wish people struggling at this place and in this economy nothing but peace of mind and a better workplace in the near future, and please do not work too hard. This place is gross and most managers and directors are just happy to not be people facing and to not have to do the real work.

It's happening all the time now. Especially if you are missing your targets and not clearing the dash. A friend of mine got let go last week for it.
