I heard there is a union planning meeting happening next week. Those that are in the know say that there are enough signatures to get started and additional recruitment is beginning soon.

@4zhw+1uPMKIwQ ah, another post that apparently lacks any actual experience
"The only people who need unions are mediocre people who want to benefit from being one of the masses. If you are truly great at your profession, you don't need someone else to represent you. And you don't need to be held back by and earn less than "people with more tenure" jus because they have been around longer than you. But if you are mediocre or worse, a union is a great way to remain employed and out-earn people with superior intellect and talent"
Sounds like a kiss a-s, ball licking, do nothing middle manager to me
My concern is unions in the US are not the same as Unions in Europe. How much money do they want? There have been some use cases with the unions siding against the people they represent in the US.. what guarantees are there?
The notion that only mediocre people benefit from unions is fundamentally flawed. Unions play a crucial role in protecting workers’ rights, ensuring fair wages, and providing a collective voice that individuals might lack on their own. Even highly skilled professionals can benefit from union representation to negotiate better working conditions and benefits. Moreover, unions help to maintain standards across industries, ensuring that all employees, regardless of tenure, are treated fairly and equitably. Dismissing unions overlooks their importance in fostering a balanced and just workplace for all employees, regardless of their individual talent.
I'm game here in Utah. WE need to unionize all of dell
I want a union representing me because I think that "anchors" are theft. You won't pay 1to1 for what I sell but you continue to raise my quota.? I believe this is illegal. Where's my union representative?
Leadership mandates change without an actually plan. If you would have said from the beginning that hybrid is 5 days, or i can choose remote, I would have never chosen hybrid. Oh, it's not a company policy, just sales. Well I'd like to talk to my union representative about this!
And I get more accounts because people left, but I don't get 100% for what I do. Seriously? I need a call with my union representative!
"Telling us you have no union work experience without telling us. Moreover, many of us have watched colleagues "truly great at their profession" walked out in recent rounds."
If they are great at their profession, then they had no problem finding new and probably better employment. But if they were mediocre, then sure, they will struggle.
A great example of what unions do is in teaching. Many horrible teachers remain employed due to tenure. You can't get rid of these people. They will let go a new star before letting go dead wood. Dead wood needs unions.

Unions are teams of individuals coming together to guarantee the things you care about like decent wages, affordable health care, job security, safe and respectful workplaces, retirement, and fair scheduling. Joining together in unions not only leads to better lives for you and your co-workers, but helps build a better America, now and for future generations.
Blue collar professions are not the only professions with unions. There are many white collar professions that are unionized, such as: Teachers, Nurses, Accountants, Telecom industry, NASA, etc...
If you research the good and bad, then compare to your work environment, I'm positive you'd sign up.

.......imo - the gap between the wealthy (seven digits) and not wealthy is because of the lies around unions. Corporations spend millions fighting to keep unions out. Ever wonder why?
"Why would anyone want someone else to bargained their compensation on their behalf?"
Because 'we're tired of small raises, increasing benefit costs, and forced work rules.
Bring it to New England!
I am not very familiar with the big picture but, I've also never heard of a situation where unions make things worse for their members.
62% raise is just the compensation aspect. I'm sure the benefits will be getting better as well.
Why would anyone want someone else to bargained their compensation on their behalf? You will have older people with more tenure who stink at their job earning more than a brilliant productive young person simply based on tenure.
Yep, it amounts to 10% per year over the next 6 years.
Dock workers got a 62% raise. Power in numbers.
go be a dock worker if you want a union
What exactly does the Union claim to to here? I've seen Union side with corporate in the US. Are they corrupt?
How can one find out more?
Unions as useful as buggy whips
This is funny as heck. There are no serious Union initiatives going on.
@luh+1uPMKIwQ is your union knowledge based on your experience?
About time. Part of the reason why American workers have such poor terms and conditions. Brainwashed into thinking unions are bad and corporates know best.
Lol what will this do? They will take your money and side with Dell just like other unions are doing. They are not what they were in your grandparents day.
Hopefully, it spreads to the Northeast US! We're about to launch the Dell AI revolution and this would be a huge help for the thinly spread workforce.
That is a hard no.
